Not sleeping for 24 hours, then WILD?

Has anyone tried depriving yourself of sleep, for say an entire day, and then trying to WILD? It makes sense to me that if you stayed awake for an entire day, your body would be extremely tired and you could easily try the 'tricking your body' technique, or many others.

Maybe by staying awake for 24 hours and then drinking an energy drink, it would keep your mind awake, and allow your body to easily fall asleep..just a thought.

I probably wont try this unless someone else has, or if there is anything to backup what Ive said.

**Depriving yourself of more than 3 days of sleep can have irreversable effects to your mind..do not attempt to not sleep for more than 3 days**

Losing sleep for ONE day messes with your mind. And the point of WILD is to stay conscious as you go into your dream state and if you're that tired you'll fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow

This is how I achieved my first WILD but in saying that it may have just been coincidence.

im really interested in finding out if it works for more people.
but then again even if it does, why waste 24 hours of sleep and harm yourself if u can have just as good chances if u wake up after 5-6 hours and then go back to sleep.

That's a good thing, as long as one can remain aware.

Wouldn't you have to go through deep sleep before REM started? Is it possible to stay conscious during that?

I've thought of doing this too, but like Ishi said, I fall asleep as soon as I get comfortable in my bed.

However, if you were able to keep yourself aware, this would definitely be a good way to WILD.

I do wonder what effects it would have in your waking life though..

      Lol, obviously..

I meant what effects lack of sleep would have...besides being sleepy.

Meaning I probably wouldn't suggest trying this out.

This is actually how I was able to achieve 2 LD's a couple nights ago.

Basically over the course of 4 days I was only sleeping 3 hours a night (finals)

then friday I attempted to go lay down at 10pm. almost instantly I started day-dreaming etc.

I couldn't sleep for an hour and a half because every few minutes I would feel this eerie pull on my mind--I'm not sure how to explain it. at 11:30 I finally fell asleep. I had a long lucid dream that seemed to last about 8 hours. When I awoke it was only 12:00am
I felt very energized so I got up for two hours and then went to lay back down at 2:00am. the same thing happened. I would feel these uncomfortable 'pulls' then when I finally feel asleep at 3 I had another long dream which I became lucid in and then subsequently awoke and only 30 minutes had past.

these weren't technically Wilds but pretty damn close in my opinion

Messing with your sleep throws of your bodies pattern and certainly helps induce false awakenings etc. possibly wilds.

Im trying this right now. It worked for me to be seriously tired and think of nothing but LDing for about 20minutes before i fell asleep. Maybe a coinsidence but im soon to find out. Ill let you know of my findings. Though its not really a practical method.

ive heard many people talk about this and i can never be bothered trying it. i think ill try it now, i wont go to sleep tonight at all and by the time ive been awake for 24 hours ill try and WILD, so that is about 7:30, infact maybe ill just try and go till the next night.
but ive not tryed it in a while so i cant even fully remember what to do so ill need to read up on it. i guess that will kill some time, along with playing the xbox non-stop for ages.

well ive just tried my first wild after goinf for about 23 hours without sleep. i cam incredibly close, actually reaching that stage where i am going in and out of dreams while being fully aware. although i couldnt quite make it. curiously after of 4 hours of sleep im up again and feeling fully rested. though im new to this so i cant really draw comparisons.

here's another thread somewhat similar - http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=74365 - i call those little 3-4 hour naps "tweaker naps" and i was always told in the navy "THE HUMAN BODY ONLY NEEDS 3 HOURS OF SLEEP TO FUNCTION!!!! QUIT UR BITCHIN'!!!!" but i have found that if u got back to sleep after one u can have some pretty good LD's...

Not sleeping wont help you to LD at all, I tried it many times ... all it did was mess up my dream recall !

My advice just dont REM sleep for a while, wake your self up after each 30 minutes or so, after 2-3 times you will be lucid in no time

Awesome replies...hmm I might try this out actually.

The trick it seems would be staying awake for the brief moments your body quickly falls asleep from being so tired. Staying concious during this, and remaining concious and self aware at the end of it.

I would never do this just for a lucid dream. My body can't handle not sleeping.

yep thats actually quite helpful. I did that once and remembered 4 dreams very vividly. So im guessing it should help a lot become lucid.

Also it might be just better to sleep deprive yourself and get only 4 hours of sleep and dont use any of your REM sleep. i think that will be more affective than not sleeping for 24 hours

i'm sure it works different for everyone.
i definetly imagine it would help increase vividness. REM dpreivation needs to catch up so the more your deprived of it, the more REM wants to become active and catch up thus lasting longer.

will it actually help you become lucid? that depends on you.
