Hey, I'm no expert or anything... but last night I tried going into a WILD, I didn't get past, or fully to the sleep paralysis part... for the simple fact that I really really had to go to the washroom (I gotta stop drinking right before bed). I was about 3/4 paralyzed, but to finish it off, I kinda needed to stop paying attention to it and go into more of a trancelike state, which I was trying to do but I kept getting disrupted cuz I had to go really badly . But anyway, what I noticed though, that helped speed up the SP, was imagining myself moving. For example, I would be lying in bed, and I would imagine myself lifting my right arm, and then my left arm, and then my legs, and I'd just move them around. I also imagined going swimming (this worked the best), and I tried to focus a lot of attention on the sensation of my arms and legs moving in the water. I'm not sure why, but this really helped.. I think it got my attention off what my body was actually doing, and perhaps it sped it up because my body was "afraid" that I would actually start swimming? Do you know what I mean. SP is in place so that you don't move around in dreams... perhaps if you imagine yourself already moving, the body might try to go into it quicker. That's just an idea behind it, regardless, the thing helped quite a bit.
Also I noticed that it could get mildly discomforting as you're feeling yourself "harden", not too bad (or at least it wasnt too bad the 3/4 of the way there that I got). But I sort of came up with this technique that helps get you into more of a trancelike state and takes your mind off the feeling - count one number for every breath in and imagine a wave rushing up overtop of you from your legs to over your head, then on the out breath (dont count) imagine the wave retreating and flowing back over your body. You actually start to feel the wave pretty forcefully, and you can feel the energy moving through your body too! It's pretty neat.
If these are actually things I shouldn't be doing (and are reasons that I didn't complete the sleep paralysis, on top of the needing go to the bathroom badly), then please correct me... but they just seemed to be helping, so I felt like sharing them.
Cheers,
Dylan
