      Openening your eyes when dreaming?

I've read alot of posts and alot of techniques and people always talk about opening there eyes and being in a dream - however.

How do you know when to open your eyes? Because I tried this last night, and i felt really asleep and figured i'd opened my eyes and I did and became became unsleepy lol.

I'm one to sleep with my lights on very dim, as im afraid of the dark .

Is that the reason it isn't working for me or have I got it completely wrong?

Both of my WILDs happened in the daytime, so I can't imagine your nightlight being a problem. I've also prematurely opened my eyes and woke up IRL instead of LD. Even when I was hallucinating my legs floating, I opened my eyes and the whole thing fell apart.

I'd say you should try and forget your physical body, otherwise you're more likely to truly open your eyes instead of your dream eyes. Whenever I am too aware of my body I fail to LD.

Okay well that's good to know , cause i really can't sleep in the dark at my house, other people's houses is fine lol :S.

Yeah, i've never even got to hallucinating, i just close my eyes and focus on seeing myself in a room with a door, but no image gets built =/.

How tired should i be when trying this? like, can i just relax in the day, lie down and try it? i know i should search the forum before asking but, i'm so new i really haven't a clue what to search lol.

Well, it sounds like you are trying to WILD.

In that case, get about 5~6 hours of sleep, set your alarm, get up for about 20 minutes then lie back down, close your eyes, and don't necessarily visual a room with a door, do something that involves more motion, like, imagine yourself riding a bicycle or running or cooking or whatever haha. And kinda half let yourself fall asleep while still being awake..if you focus too hard on whether or not you're asleep yet, it wont happen. Its like meditation, you dont want to visualize so hard that you keep yourself awake, but you want to be relaxed enough (but not too relaxed and fall fully into non LD sleep). YOu might feel chest vibrations--- if you do, just kinda let them happen. Slip under them, in a way. Eventually you will go into LD mode or find yourself paralyzed. If you find yourself paralyzed you can still LD. Iunno, I usually eventually shake my body "awake", and when I sit up I'm in the dream. Hope that helps, but I'm probably bad at explaining things.

Be sure to always RC when you wake up. I got into that habit and catch false awakenings more often.

      (I noticed your siggy)
On LD hiatus. Probably will start again around new years.

Or, you know -- randomly throughout this year and next.

      Haha thanks!
Yeah, that was my very last LD.
It was all a total accident, but when I "Woke up" I immediatly hopped out of bed, plugged my nose and tried to breathe. B) Oh snap. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind from now on :3

Actually, now that I think about it hard... I suppose I could most of them, cause for a while I always RCed when waking up D= guess that stopped for a while :/
