      I've been trying, but...

I just can't seem to attain any sort of consciousness in my dreams. I have pretty good recall. I even remember dreams I've had months or even years ago spontaneously. I've tried a lot over the past few weeks, RCing faithfully, but whenever I get around to remembering my dreams, they are ephemeral and seemingly preordained. I never remember even having the choice to question reality in dreams, yet I do it so much while 'awake' that it frustrates me. Am I not being patient enough? Is it possible that I just *can't* LD?

And the question that seems to bother me most...

Is THIS the dream? Is any of this real?

It jsut sounds like you need to be more patient. I've heard of stories where it's taken months of hard work to achieve a first. less than two weeks is hardly a long time for this sort of thing.

With enough practice, time and effort, anyone can lucid dream.

If it is a dream, are you lucid?

Keep up the dream journal. Write down everything and anything. Don't just write down your dreams, but write how you were feeling, how you woke up, how you were feeling when you went to sleep, every detail you can, if nessecary.
      Focus.

      Focus.
Thanks, I guess I'll try to write more. I didn't really know that (and don't quite understand how) writing all of those kinds of details down could help, but if you recommend it, I shall do it. One other thing, though, is that I have never been able to remember what I felt like before falling asleep. I always just wake up and assume things went as usual

I also keep forgetting how little time has actually passed since I started coming here. It feels like forever! Sorry if I seem like an annoying newbie complaining about not receiving instant gratification.

As Rufus Wainwright would say, "all I ask for is instant pleasure." :-D

Try writing it down beforehand, if that works~
I'm only throwing things out there for focus. Bring the focus to your dreams, and remembering them. If you think about them enough, including before you sleep, and after you wake up, you'll often remember more dreams. Or at least as such in my experience.
They're just tools to help you focus, and remember more dreams.

Clever quote. At some time, everyone feels like they want something and they want it now~
