      Help with WBTB & MILD

      Hi everyone,

Well last night I decided I would try the WBTB technique paired with MILD. Before I fell asleep, I kept telling myself I would do reality checks and that I would have a lucid dream and all that fun stuff, but then I couldn't fall asleep. I stayed awake for at least an hour. I am wondering if there are ways that you can remind yourself to do reality checks and lucid dream and have an easier time falling asleep.

      Thanks for reading, please respond!

What you could do is say your mantra a few times while in bed and then let it go and not think about it and just fall asleep.

I agree, mantras, or counting slowly usually work for me. It's all about keep your brain waves low while remaining somewhat focused.

Think of MILD like any attempt to remember to remember to do something. Like when you need to remember to buy milk at the store. Don't just repeat your mantra until you fall asleep. You should be visualizing what it will be like when you become lucid, and locking it in your mind the way you do when you want to remember to do something in real life.

The most important part of MILD is that effort you're going to put in during the day, not during WBTB or before bed. Try to focus on working up your memory, the mantras and visualization can take a backseat to that.

      Shift is right.

Stephen LaBerge included an excercise that helped w/ prospective memory in his book; maybe I'll post it.
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

Just make sure that if you do, quote it!

read my now-locked post of my "new method", but it was really just a MILD. it works for me. 3 lucid dreams since starting it 3 days ago:

I agree with Shift. A nice trick is to think of LD'ing every time you do something that you do alot. For example I may remind myself that I will LD tonight every time I check my watch, or every time I unlock my car. An added bonus is that if you do one of these things in your dream you will probably realize you are lucid =]
