Frustrating, How can I avoid this?

Damn. Last night I had a dream, and randomly decided to RC. It worked, and I thought hey, I must be dreaming, but I did not become lucid. I had no control over myself, and I did not really think that I was dreaming. However, in my dream I tried to fly, and shoot stuff with my fingers, all the stuff I want to do when I successfully become lucid. I failed at everything.

I remember this dream fairly vividly, And am annoyed, because I feel like I missed out on a good chance to have a lucid dream.

How can I make sure, that when I RC and decide that I'm dreaming, I actually become lucid?

      ooh, you had a semi-lucid dream, it's normal , it's ok.
just keep practicing, you will start to, maybe, have more of them, and then, they will transform automatically in Lucid Dreams.
don't get discouraged, at least admire the vividness of these dreams (for me they are more vivid)
practice doing the reality checks with MORE awareness, become more aware and these semi-lucid dreams will not disturb you, but this is only the short way.
in the long way (it can take 2 weeks to 1 month) you must just keep doing what you are doing, and these semi-lucids will spontaneously arise.
they are not a bad sign, they mean that you are half-way.

      bye
