Exclamation Why is this happening with MILD?!

Well, i don't know if there are a lot of MILDers in the forum as i mostly just see people asking around either about DILDs and WILDs but if someone can help me, i would be happy xD.

Well, what happened was the following. My first successful LD technique was MILD. I was reading EWOLD and i decided to try it. At first try i succeeded and had a MILD. I kept trying during the next weeks and had LDs almost every night. This happened on holidays when i had a sleeping schedule like this (go to sleep at 23:00 pm and wake up at around 8:00 am). Then i went to another place on holidays and my whole schedule was changed. I had trouble recalling dreams and also doing MILDs (just succeeded after about half a week but i couldn't do it regularly anymore, just randomly).

Then, the holidays away from home finished and i went back to my house. I had some DEILD before and experienced some SP and HH by pure chance. This made me get interested in WILDs and i kept trying them until now.

But now my holidays are over and, due to my classes, i would prefer to do MILDs again as they had a huge success rate and the dream quality was really good although i only got lucid some time after the dream onset.

What i want to ask is how can i succeed on MILDing again? My recall is a bit lousy lately but i really want to go back to this technique. Any tips? Should i try to take a regular sleeping schedule again? Use the same mantra? Btw, another thing i recall is that on my successful attempts i would be able to repeat the mantra until getting asleep and i can't do it anymore. If i repeat it, i will take a lot of time to get asleep.

      Any help is welcome.
      Thanks.

First I recommend increasing your recall, having good recall is the first step to all techniques. Then you can try using the same mantra but depending on the person sometimes you may have to start from scratch in finding the right one. Also about the not falling asleep, you are probably focusing on it too much, you should be saying the mantra with conviction and enthusiansm; but also it should fade as you sleep and allowing it to fade will represent your conciousness fading as you fall asleep.

      Thanks for the reply.

I supose it has to do with the recall indeed. Lately i have been a lot busy at classes and with stuff related to university so i haven't been able to write down my dreams. I think this is making me have trouble with my MILD attempts.

I will try to fix this.

Also i would like to know one thing. Are the mantras supposed to be repeat loudly or just in your mind? I just repeat them on my mind and it has worked plenty of times to me.

Typically spoken in your mind, it may be even harder to fall asleep if spoken aloud.

      Hello, fellow MILDer!

For dream recall, do a memory mantra. Something like, "I WILL remember my dreams," etc. Works like a charm for me. Also keep a dream journal.

Whenever I do my mantras, I say it aloud the first few times, then slowly scale it back until it's just in my mind (but with plenty of conviction). It gets harder to hold the mantra as I fall asleep, and it even re-awakens me a bit sometimes, but I keep doing it. If I have enough energy, I'll just do the mantra for about 15 minutes at most, then switch to visualizing me doing a reality check in my dreams.

Remember that it takes time for the MILD method to really soak into your subconscious. However, your past experience should expedite the process a bit.

      Good luck!

I have been combining my MILD attempts with WILD attempts.

Last night i had a really nice WILD with a lot of quality and a relatively high LD total time. So i think i'll do the 2 technique combination to maximize my results. I also remembered really well 2 dreams during the night.

Thanks for your help i'll keep trying it to see if i start having success again with MILDs.
