Your question was answered. Two higher frequency sine waves are played and difference between the two sine waves is perceived by your brain. Example... 400Hz in one ear and 430Hz in another is perceived as 30Hz. Otherwise you couldn't listen to binaural beats with headphones at all since no headphones can produce such low frequencies.
