I'm going to attempt my first WILD over Christmas vacation. Any tips?

      .

A big one is don't be to concentrated on the idea of becoming lucid. To much concentration and you may stay awake. Remember you are falling asleep.

Just relac and don't become too stressed while attempting to WILD after awakening. Just go with the flow! Changes are, if you fail at WILD, a MILD will occur!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

And seeing HI is not exactly a good sign. I mean, i can now do an almost 100% succesful WILD and is STILL havent seen any HI yet! HI is just a way to visualize your dream scenario if you want to control that. If you, as me, olye see streams of "light" against a black wall, dont worry! The real key lies in SP. After a while being SPed and totally relaxed while remaining focused, just open your eyes and do a RC. Voila! instant WILD
      Works for me!

      Mimbre, agua profunda

Seeker's right... Lucid dreams will come if you practice WILDs regardless. But don't worry too much about being succesful the first time. WILDs are hard for most people. If it's your first attempt you should be happy with maybe hearing some voices or synaptic firing, and even if you get into sleep paralysis but still don't get the WILD thats ok. Your gaining progress... ohh well I can't rant about them as i haven't even had one but when I did try to WILD for a long time one night I had my most concious lucid dream ever. You'll be amazed at the results. Just remember to relax good luck

Well, from my understanding not everyone gets HI or SP. Some get both, some get one or the other. It's just different for everyone. I don't know what I get since I've not successfully had a WILD.

I think I tend to have a pretty good grip on WILDS. This first hint for me that I'm falling asleep and entering a LD is HP Sounds, not imagery. I hear like the sounds of engines starting and roaring like before a jet takes off, I hear white noise like the ants on the tv when its fuzzy, or sometimes I can hear the voices of DC's before I am even in the dream. Once I start hearing this, I tell myself to remain calm, relaxed, dont get scared...And I wait for sleep paralysis to onset, and it always does, and there is like a rush of energy flying through my body and I hear this too, and its just crazy and then I start to see the dream scenario appear before my eyes and I take it from there. Just dont try to actively jump into the dream or you will likely wake up, you have to passively enter the dream, let it take you in, just remain concious and keep coaching yourself in your head. If you have specific questions relating to WILDS, just PM me, I'll be happy to help.

well I have a problem with just grasping the idea of falling asleep while staying conscious, I have tried to WILD the last 3 nights and twice during the early morning, either I just get sick of it or I think I feel SP then I open my eyes and I can still move and everythings normal (RC wise). I also don't see much HI if any. I think I just can't fall asleep while remaining concious, any tips would be awesome

      peace

I don't get either. I asked alot of people, how do you see it. And they say "well, it just sort of appears." So i try and try but nothing ever appears so...I guess I don't get 'em.

I've just started to pursue Lucid Dreaming, and the last few attempts at WILD have gone ok, I guess. Mainly it is because I didn't know exactly what to expect, and the first times I've been to agitated. I get agitated really easily but I've just realised once you feel it coming on do not move! lol It would kinda start for me then I would loose concentration and roll over, meaning I had to start all over again. Oh well I'll get it soon. I too hear sounds - mainly in the form of people speaking to me, and nothing direct. I'm just gonna keep trying though.

Question: Is it best to WILD at night, in the morning or afternoon? I've been trying the whole 5 hours of sleep then wake up for an hour and go to sleep again, but I can't seem to WILD very easily. The most sucess I've had so far with one has been in the afternoon.

Oh, and does being really tired affect you much? When I'm really tired I just seem to blank out and not recall any of my dreams.

when u see the hypnotic imagery, is it just random colors and stuff, or can it be like images of actual objects or places or something? also, what does SP stand for?

It is definately best to attempt a wild after 5-6hours of sleep, wake up, do something for an hour or so, going for a drive (which sucks, but had to be done to take my girlfriend to work) always works best for me, 100% of the time after driving when waking up I can wild. Dont do anything crazy, just get your mind awake, keep your body tired, you need to go back to sleep. Another "eazy" way to Wild is taking a nap in the afternoon sometime, that was how my friend had a LD for the first time when he fell asleep in his classroom after I lent him S. L.'s A Guide To Lucid Dreaming, which is a great book for first timers, lots of helpful induction techniques and helpful how to's..
