I attempted to FILD last night

I had read of the tutorials a few times to get myself prepared for it.

So I set my clock for 6 o clockam. I went to bed at 12ish. The clock went off at 6am, and I woke up and turned my Phone of immediately, then laid back in bed and started moving my index and middle finger up and down alternatively very slow and slight. I noticed that I started breathing differently, like harder, and my heart was beating mega fast! Why did that happen? But anyway, I kept my cool and did it for what I thought was 30 seconds or so and I stopped an then went RC by pinching my nose and seeing if I could breathe. I couldn't, so I wasn't dreaming. Was there something I did wrong? I also got up and turned lights on to be sure and they came on.

I have a few questions also. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night. I dont know why. But I do remember waking up before my alarm clock went off. Does that interrupt anything? So if I wake up at 4am, does that mean I should set my clock for six hours later? I also remember when I was flicking my fingers, I didn't feel THAT tired. It's true that you should fall back asleep while flicking your fingers?

When you're in a routine, your body gets used to it. That's why I wake up at 5:39, 6 minutes before my alarm goes off, every freaking morning. It's kind of annoying, actually. But the weekends are awesome. I can see the time, and then go back to sleep

A FILD is a harder technique for most people than a WBTB or DILD. I would suggest not trying it until you give the others a go. But to answer your questions, your biggest mistake was only doing it for thirty seconds.

When WILDing or FILDing or VILDing, the worst thing you can do is think, 'man- why hasn't it happened yet? How long have I been doing this?' Instead keep your head clear enough to fall asleep but slightly aware; enough to remain lucid.

This may cause you to enter a semi-lucid, but the transition period between awake and asleep should at the least remind you to do an RC.

But even if you do the FILD right, I've never heard of someone being in a dream in thirty seconds. Also, as far as waking up four hours into sleep, have you seen the WBTB? That can work four hours in. But no, don't reset your alarm for six hours. After that you will be fully awake anyway.

I guess that's very possible. How do I stop that though? Well maybe it's something I'll just have to get used to?

I have also tried the FILD method and it worked! I woke up to an alarm set at around 5:30 and quickly began to clear my mind and flick my fingers gently. After about 15 seconds my mind did this weird "shift". I kind of knew it was a dream but to be sure I pinched my nose and I could breathe! I stood up from my bed, went outside to my front yard and flew for about 10 seconds. then the dream ended haha.

You have to keep your breathing steady that works for me, it kinda relaxes you. And you have to avoid thoughts like ''omg it's happening'', but you're right to its like many things you just have to get used to it and than you'll be able to relax easier.

      Good Luck

I've still never had FILD work for me. Don't get frustrated. Just keep trying different kinds of WILD tricks, and something will work for you.
