      WBTB times and WILD

so i had a WILD last night. It was pretty cool. but what was cool about it wasnt the content of the dream, but how easy it was to actually accomplish. See usually when i WILD, i wake up after like 4 to 4 1/2 hours of sleep to do my WBTB, but this time i woke up after 6 1/2 or 7. I wasnt planning on trying for a LD, i was just resting my eyes before i got up. My mind wasnt clouded in the slightest like it usually is after 4 hours of sleep. I didnt have to fight to keep conciousness. So i sat there, relaxed, and all of a sudden without warning i went into the vibrations. They suprised me cause i didnt even feel them coming on. Like, usually i can feel my heart rate start to go up when the vibrations are close, but this time, they just came without warning. After a few minutes, i entered the dream, and had a pretty cool dream.

I just thought it was interesting on how easy it was to WILD after being pretty well rested. I always thought it was good to be tired, because suposedly that means you are closer to REM which is the dreaming stage. But then i thought it over a bit and i was wrong. see the way the sleep cycle works, you end up being in a really light sleep, right before you enter REM, which is where you dream. (im not going to go into the sleep cycle in this post, it takes too long ) So i guess a good clue to how easy your WILD is going to be that night, is how awake you feel right when you wake up from your WBTB. I also remembered that the longer you sleep, the longer you stay close to, or in REM sleep as the night goes on.

So maybe the best time to try a WILD, would be after you have already slept a long time, instead of after just a couple of hours, or at the begining of the night. just thought i would share that with you guys, and see if anyone had any thoughts on the subject.

Well, I've just woken up for a WILD attempt (5:50 AM here) and I'm really fighting to keep my eyes open... Guess it's not for tonight then. I'll report here if it works though, but I do have a feeling I'll go straight to sleep.

i'm curious about this too. the same thing happened to me last night/this am. i got up slightly later with better results for LD.

on the other hand.... i've heard that the "magic window" for meditators is from 4 am to 6 am. don't ask me where i heard that! but ... look at how many religious traditions have people get up at that hour!

maybe you are closer to sleep and when you can remember - it's more vivid?

good question, i'd like to know myself. i've had better luck later in the day, WILDing, but, the most intensity from 5 to 6 am re SP.

oh yes... and then some vivid daytime lucid dreams... another topic altogether.

do you stay up all night due to work? or school? or some other reason?

seriously i think you have to do extra stuff to accomodate for that... something to do with melatonin and the sleep cycle telling your body when to sleep.

you might want to repost under a different topic name if that's the case like
What to do if my sleep cycle is reversed or I have to work nights... or some such thing....

we have some pretty smart people here (and i am unfortunately a few months or years away from that category...) but they are here!
