      Has anyone tried asking nicely?

Hello Dreamviews, I used to frequent this forum quite often a couple of years back. However, due to much difficulty in my life I forgot about lucid dreaming and this place. Recently, I have tried to have more Lucid Dreams, but they just won't come to me. My dream recall is fine, so I know its not that. I have tried all the induction methods that used to work for me, but none of them have worked anymore. So, finally in one night of desperation, I did something I had never even considered before.

This simple thing was asking myself to have a lucidd dream. I was laying down in bed and relaxing, and I just thought to myself... 'Please, have a lucid dream. It would make me so happy, I would really appreciate it.' Well, lo and behold, I had my first lucid dream that night in over a year. Will it work again? I am going to try tonight. If it does work for me that will save me SO much time in induction techniques. You have to really mean it though. Don't just lay there and think it to yourself, 'mean' it. Really implore your subconcious to allow you to become lucid. Appreciate your subconcious, and be patient and gentle with it. Don't think that you are going to be angry if you don't have a lucid dream, just ask with as much kindness and understanding as you can.

When I did this I became lucid at the very beginning of the dream, and it was-to be honest- one of the longest lucid dreams I have ever had. The dream control was shaky, but honestly that is probably because I have gone so long without practice.

So, if anyone wants to give this a try and post your results, that would be great. It would be nice to know if it works for anyone else.

Thanks, I'll try this tonight. I know this probably works, you just have to mean it and feel good about it.

      I'll post tomorrow with results.

You probably had one because you kinda did a MILD. You had lucid dreaming in your head right as you fell asleep (most likely) and that carried over to your dreams.
      Working on: Daily awareness.
Lucid Task: Reverse the flow of a waterfall and ride up it.

yea this pretty much was a mild. Most people just say (in their head) that they will have a lucid dream, you asked. It's the same method. I'm glad that you got your lucid dream anyway.

Law of attraction, whther you beleive in it or not.

If you want it to happen, it never will.

If you know it WILL happen, whether it's today or tommorow and you don't care to much either way, Then it will happen on it's own accord.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have tried MILD many times before this with absolutely no luck. In fact, MILD is the only Lucid Dreaming technique that I have ever tried that has never really worked for me. I WILD more than anything, and SOMETIMES I WBTB. DILD is another one that I do have, although more rarely.

I think the reason this worked is because I was very gently hinting at it. I wasn't forcefully telling myself 'I WILL have a lucid dream!' I was trying to be subtle about it so as to not strain my mind. So yeah, if this is MILD then perhaps it is a form that works better for me. The just telling myself I am going to have a lucid dream never works with my mind.

Yeah i know where you're coming from, every night that i tell myself i'm going to lucid or i know that i am dreaming it never works, but they do work for some people but i'm going to try this tonight and ask my subconsious nicely and kindly but with passion, if i can have a lucid dream and i'll explain to my subconsious what a lucid dream is.

I sometimes give my subconscious mind a bit of my pep talk. Something like, "That was a great lucid last week, but what say we outdo ourselves this time, huh?"
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

Absolutely right. You programmed your subconscious mind without forcing it. The more you try to want something, or force your subconscious to comply, the more you really confirm to your subconscious that you don't have what you want yet, which your subconscious interprets as "focus on this, and make it more a part of my reality."

The first couple of times that i tried this it didn't work, but the 3rd or 4th time i forgot which, i finally got it to work and that was a few days ago. I got my lucid, although i forgot if it was what i wanted to dream about, but it was lucid.

That's actually how I got my first lucid I did try it again but it didnt't work the second time. I had increased recall though for some reason.
