      First LD

Ive been keeping a journal and doing RC's for about a week and a half now. I remember about 3 dreams a night. It was weird. I was dreaming of being at a beach and the weather was horrible. It was pouring down and the ocean was really rough. I think I got sick of the weather and just decided to yell "clear now!" then "clarity now" and I just became lucid. After a split second of "omg!" I tried to calm myself down. But before I could light starting fading and I could feel myself getting pulled from the ground. Almost as if I was stuck to it and I had to get torn away from it. Then it went dark and I was awake. Stupid me shouldve continued to lay there and attempt a DEILD but I forgot. Although for a second I thought I was still dreaming so I did a RC.

I'm happy Ive had one, but what's getting at me is that I can remember 2 more dreams I had after that. One of them, I remember braking my finger and pulling It all the way back til it was touching the back of my hand. Lol, I thought that wouldve made me lucid but perhaps I just need to keep doing more Rc's and such? Anywho end of my rant lol.

      Looking forward to another!

      Talking congrats man.

looks like all the work paid off!

I'm guessing you found out about LDing, researched it, and decided that you wanted to LD. . . and realized that it's possible to do it. Dreams aren't out of your control. I think that's the major hurdle that everyone has to jump over when they're attempting this type of thing.

So my tips to you, as you seem to be a lot like me when starting out:

(when the 'oops. dream's fading.' happens) The thing is, you have to anticipate that sometime during this dream you're going to wake up. You can delay it and stay in your dream by doing a variety of things. You just gotta figure out which ones work best for you. The vision fades first, sometimes very fast. In that case, the best thing that works for me is dropping to the ground, and feeling everything I can. By feeling the ground I get a... more ... I dunno, it's important to know that when the vision fades, that you're dreaming, and it's very possible that your dream is going to change to 1) 'a room where you're feeling a ground and then you see what the ground is, look up, and you're in the same dream / a different dream but feeling the ground of this new room, or, 2) a false awakening of being in bed, or 3) (and this is one of the most interesting parts about lucid dreaming) you're actually shifting back to the real world... actually waking up. This one sucks but, as you'll find out with DEILD and the WBTB experience, it can be a quite interesting experience, almost paranormal in the way that dreams are, in the fact that you're in this state where it's allllmost reality but not, floating in.. somewhere. I dunno, hard to explain, kind of new to me.

Anyway. Other 'staying in dreams' tips:
It can be useful to have a quick 'as soon as i become lucid i need to..' idea in mind:

Reach into your 'pocket' and pull out your keys. Feel them. Toss them between your hands as you glance around the room. (Do this in RL too, it's a quick, easy, lucidity / RC thing if you wish.) This really helps me in stabilizing my dream.

I had a lucid a few weeks ago where as soon as I became lucid dream started fading, I started tearing up grass and flowers and putting them to my face, feeling it and smelling it. I pulled up some grass, and then I pulled up a flower, but it was plastic(?weird right), the second one was a real flower... started walking around, very vivid dream, but dream changes to: I'm in Wal-mart, lucid but vision is fading real quick. I reach over and pull out some yellow pieces of paper on a Hallmark-Card-Kiosk thing and waved them around in front of my face... worked awesome in keeping me in my dream a little bit longer enough to walk through walmart.

Also, I also think it's important to note, that in my experiences, it can be frustrating with the whole 'visualizing everything become clearer right in front of your eyes'. and by glancing at something else in the dream and then, doing a slow observation of the room works wonders for me. I've had problems with anything to do with 'closing and re-opening my eyes'... as it seems to just freaking insta-wake me.

The whole 'dream fading' experience while being lucid is just you realizing that you're actually in your body, dreaming, and the whole aspect of it is exciting your consiousness enough to nudge you towards waking up... and know that the next thing you see can quite possibly be a dream.

Lately on dream-exit I've noticed that if i focus intently and pay attention to the ringing sound in my ears (your brain creates a ringing sound while sleeping, Tinnitus i think it's spelled) that i can experience some CRAZY vibrational-type dream re-enty thing. it's cool and i can't describe it too differently.

btw, grats again and keep up with the RCs. I'm not exactly sure how the 'clarity now!' thing was part of your dream, have you been thinking / saying that as you do your RCs? or just reading about dream clarity? Regardless, grats on your first DILD. Keep it up. Eventually you WILL forget about all the anxiety / excitement of lucid dreaming and achieve some more goals! You're doing the process right. DJ, dream recall, and all. Just know that more LDs will come

Make a list of what you want / need to do when you become lucid. Know it.
haha 1 - 3 should probably involve dream stabilization and not sex

Thanks a bunch for your response. Some interesting info there that I'm going to have to give a try. I just got to train my brain to recognize my dreamsigns and stuff first. About that whole "clarity now" thing, yeah I've just read a bunch of tuts and those words have always seemed to keep stuck in my head.

      Thanks again for your info!
