First lucid dream, what was it?

Last night I had my first lucid dream, kinda. I wasn't sure if I was awake in real life or if I dreamt that I woke up, but I decided that since I was tired I'd try to fall asleep into a dream. It worked, as I closed my eyes I fell into a world and was in a retreat on a beach. Everything was very, very vivid and I knew I was dreaming. I walked around waving to everybody. I felt myself getting excited so I settled down. I tried to change stuff and it was really hard though. I couldn't, I could only react how I wanted.

What kind of lucid dream was this? Was it one?

It was a lucid because you KNEW it was a dream. As for what kind...a high lucidity one because you were aware of dream control and tried to calm down....to do that you need quite a high level of awareness of waking life/self. For me a low level lucid would barely have anything else other than vaguely aware it's a dream.

No, I mean what type. Such as wild or dild.

It's dream rentry. You go directly to REM without the HI stuff..it happens with waking up briefly and going back to sleep thinking.

My guess is that it was a DILD masquerading as a WILD - you dreamed that you were awake and "fell asleep" instantly into a lucid dream. This happened to me at least once, when I was active here...and I took advantage of it to do a Task of the Month. This false WILD then ended in a false awakening where I went to record it.

If you really were awake before you "fell asleep" into the lucid dream, then it was a WILD. I was never very good at having those, although my first lucid dream in which I was able to stay asleep and fly around seemed to have been one...I fell asleep very quickly and was conscious of fading into a dream, with all the weird sensations that come with falling asleep. About a year before that, I'd had a very short DILD that I woke up from almost as soon as I attained lucidity. That was disappointing.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.
