      Unhappy DEILD...did I wrech it?

Hi everyone. Just this morning I was having a really wierd dream...I small volcano formed in our backyard and I had to light a fuse in our gas grill to set the volcano off. I lit the fuse, stepped back a few feet, and then the grill blew up and killed me. My vision was jerky when it blew up and I flew back...
Well as soon as it blew up, the dream started to fade quickly, and I knew I was waking up. Instead of trying to stay in the dream(I wonder if I could of, I was dead...wonder what would happen if I stayed in the dream while lucid), I thought that I might as well try to do an DEILD. The dream faded all the way, and I didn't move my body or eyes(and kept them shut). I just layed their for 5 seconds, and then I suddenly felt really wierd....can't explain it. It didn't feel like when I was enterying SP. I have only started to enter SP before, and it didn't feel like this.( I felt all tingly, was hard to breath, and my heart was racing when I entered SP but wrecked it with the breathing). So, I felt really wierd for 5-10 seconds. I heard wierd techno-science fiction noises..HI? I did not know what I was suppossed to concentrate on. The tutorials say it is a lot easier to enter the dream you just exited, but I was dead in that, so I didn't want to waste the chance if I just woke up from the dream because I was dead. I instead thought about my friend. No details about where we would be or what we would be doing, just my friend. So I thought about that for 5-10 seconds. Then I heard a tick, and the wierd feeling and noises stopped. Not a clock like tick...tck. I laid there for another 10 seconds, then wondered if I should lay still and try to WILD, or check if I was in a FA kind of. I did the nose RC, and then looked at my watch...7AM. I then tried to WILD, and laid perfectly still for an hour and then couldn't bear the uncomfortableness so I quit.

I didn't really get excited during it, although it was a little freaky...hearing noises that weren't there. My heartbeat was a little faster, but I just kept on breathing normally, unlike when I tried to WILD.

      So a few questions....
-Does it matter what you think about when you feel wierd? What should I think about

-Did I wreck it, thinking about my friend? I hoped that I would enter a dream with my friend in it.

-Do you experience visual HIs when doing a DEILD? Or are you suddenly just in a dream?

Please help. I don't think it was because I was at the end of a REM cycle, because I got that wierd feeling and heard noises. I at least started to DEILD right? did I somehow wrech it. Please ask any questions.

Nothing bad/impossible would happen. Try it!

Sleep paralysis doesn't have to feel the same every time. My own experiences have ranged from 100% tactile to 75% audial.

Actually, you'd probably be more successful if you did focus on what you were just dreaming about. It makes it easier for the body to continue, y'know? But you have to be somewhat passive about this. You can't focus as if your life depended on it--you focus as if it's always been this way. As if the dream had never ended.

I was at the end of a REM cycle,
That's also a possible explanation as to why you failed. That's not your fault, though; that's luck.

If I was at the end of a REM cycle, would I still have gone into SP and heard the HI?

Thanks. I am going to try in the morning. I set my watch to beep every hour. I have tried that before, and it usually wakes me up. So I practised laying down and having it beep every few minutes, and then not moving when it beeps and thinking, "don't move..,". So hopefull that will work

Yupyup. It ain't called a sleep cycle for nothin'. Once you're done dreaming, the pattern goes in reverse (1-2-3-4-3-2-REM-2-3-4-3-2-REM-2-3-4-3-2-REM-, and eventually somewhere you wake).
