      I wouldn't use any timers to make me do RC's. What works for me best is just whenever I think "What if this was a dream?" I do a RC, expecting to be in a dream while doing what MythicDreams said:

      The problem with doing it every *insert time here* is that it becomes too routine and you do it without thinking much. The same will then likely happen in a dream and you won't get lucid.

      While this is very true and it is better to question your surrounding instead of mindlessly doing a reality check, I find the nose pinch to be so reliable that I don't need to so.

      When i RC i ask myself if im dreaming, look around, pinch my nose and try to breathe through it a few times, look at my hands a few times, look at some text, try to put my finger through my hand, and then do the nose pinch again, then look around and ask myself if im dreaming.

      Its basically failproof as long as you are paying attention while you are doing it
