Going for.. some type of technique tonight...

I'm just gonna set my alarm for 3:00, turn it off, try to FILD and sort of DEILD I guess...and then see what happens.

Still trying to get mah first lucid!

Hmm alright. What do you plan on doing while awake before doing this technique? Because I know if you just wake up and do a straight-up WILD, you're probably just going to fall asleep and probably not even remember waking up.

So, I suggest you give yourself some time while awake. Go use the bathroom, maybe get a small glass of water, and do a bunch of reality checks.

It depends on when you fall to sleep.

Assuming you fall asleep at say midnight, 3pm may be a bit early. You could wake up in the middle of some deep slow-wave sleep.

I think 4.30 hours into sleep would be more reliable. That'd be around your 3rd REM cycle (the get progressively longer, so theres a better chance you'll wake yourself up in one the later you set the alarm). The 4th REM cycle is around 6 hours in, but you may not want to disturb yourself closer to when you have to get up - if the dawn is rising etc.

I'm not sure, I haven't got a lot of experience here, just going off what I've learnt about sleep stages. And keep in mind that we can only make generalisations about sleep patterns, they're not fixed in the... stars.

Hope that helped in some way, and gl! I'm going to try some of these techniques too.

I think you should settle on a method or two and have strong conviction that you'll stick with it. Planning on doing a FILD and a DEILD and following it up with "I guess" tells me you're really unsure of yourself. I say to do that FILD, do it good, and if you wake up from a dream, do a DEILD and do it good! Get that enthusiasm kickin' in!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

You guys are right, "I guess" kinda made me realize I'm unsure about all this. I get overwhelmed with these methods. My plan is to keep doing reality checks, update my dream journal every day, and try to WILD at night. I usually go to bed around 10:30, and I'm very sure that my 2nd or 3rd REM cycle is around 3:00, this is where I remember waking up the most on normal nights.

I'll wake up, turn my alarm off, drink some water and maybe pee, then go lay down again and try to FILD. I'll do so some "Is this real? *looks at hands*" tonight as well.

Well it sounds like if you keep this up and remember your dreams, you'll eventually have a lucid, soon hopefully. Good luck
