      Lucid Dreams in dreams

So I was having a dream that I was with this group on this snowy mountain trail thing, and we were walking to this weird cave with a portal in it. When I went through the portal I became lucid. It wasn't like I went through and was like "hey this is all a dream!" I knew I was in lucid dream, but I thought the mountain and everything was real. It was really blurry and I tried to stabilize it by rubbing my hands together but I couldn't and I fell out of the portal. I thought I left the dream world and came back to reality. Then I went back in and the same thing happened.

So I'm just wondering what was up with this?
Is there a name for this, or has something like this happened to anyone else?
Also, I pretty much did all that I could to stablize it, which was rubbing my hands cause that's all I could really see. So is there any other way to stablize it?
Plus I wanted to share it cause it's pretty weird

"what was up with this?" As far as I can tell, you just had a dream. That's all. No name for it, it's not lucid, half-lucid (no such thing btw), lucid-within-a-dream (also no such thing), or negative lucid (yeah, no such thing) - it's a non-lucid dream that you believed was real. Happens all the time to people.

Good luck on getting lucid in the future though!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

So are you saying the whole thing wasn't lucid at any point? Because I'm pretty sure it was lucid a one point or another, but I haven't had a lot of LD's so that's not really my place to say.

Thanks for the input though hopefuly I'll have a fully lucid dream sooner or later -_-

To me it looks like you had a Lucid Dream. You don't need to say anything like "Yes! I'm dreaming!", etc. to get lucid (although a lot of people think you need to for some reason). I'm kind of confused as to why you'd think this wasn't an LD. Do you think you could elaborate a little more?

You're the only one who can say if it was lucid or not. Nobody else can know that.

Yea I'm pretty sure it was lucid. It was weird because when I went through the portal thing I knew that I was in I lucid dream, but I still thought everyhing else was real outside of the portal. It would be like if you jumped through your computer screen and were automaticly in a lucid dream. Except I still thought this reality was real, but it was a non lucid. If that makes sense. It was kinda trippy

Hm, maybe you were lucid, but not enough? You know, sometimes people become lucid, and know they are dreaming, but for some reason, they still think that everything around will somehow affect waking, so it must be similar to your problem. You also said you lost lucidity right after that, so yeah.

      Yeah it's called a semi-lucid.
