      Awareness technique; "Am I dreaming?"

I had this idea for a technique. I will not be able to experiment with this because I am focused on another technique at the moment, but I am sharing to see if anyone has any thoughts or would like to try it.

The aim of this technique is to make you aware in the present moment and help to prevent the asking of, "Am I dreaming?" from becoming a mindless habit.

The idea is, whenever you speak to someone in real life, you ask, "Am I dreaming?", but instead of hearing your own voice in your head, you ask the question and imagine it being asked in the voice of the person you are speaking to - or have just been speaking to. Eventually this will become a habit and should carry over to dreams.

Let me know your thoughts, positive or negative.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

The idea is to remain in a constant state of departure while always arriving..

My sources for LD information are ETWOLD, Dreamviews and sometimes LD4all. I have not seen this technique discussed so I am surprised to find it exists. Thank you for alerting me, Sam1r. Do you have a link to one of the YouTube vids that discusses this technique?

      YouTube Link
Well...in there it's "Am I Awake?"...which is practically the same thing...
This is a good technique, not the best one though...It works fine for me,I only had a false alarm once...
      Try it,
      Sam

Not sure I've been understood. My thought was that you ask, "Am I dreaming?" as discussed in the video, but to prevent it from becoming a mindless habit you ask the question in your head but imagine you are asking it in the voice of the person you are speaking to.

      Oh...that's what you meant...
      Right.Sorry, I misunderstood you.
It sounds like a good idea.
So like if you imagine your friend asking you that,It would work better.
      Umm,I think that could,too,become a 'mindless habit'...
      Thanks for the idea,
      I'd love to try it..

I'm concentrating my efforts on recognising my dreamsigns at the moment. If I get a chance to try it I'll let you know if it works. I suspect it would, but probably no better than recognising dreamsigns.
