Strange way to stay aware/reality check often

A certain friend of mine lucid dreams almost every night without fail using the DILD method. When I asked him how he managed to use that method so efficiently, he replied with one word: 'Marijuana'. He claims that since he is such a frequent user, he seems to find himself in a permanent dream-like state and because of this he remembers to reality check constantly. It has became such a habit for him to reality check that he does it without question in his dreams? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I wouldn't recommend doing it though. It's a tough price to pay just to be able to lucid dream every night.

I don't know how it helps. But personally I would not use any drugs just to attempt lucid dreaming. Even if it's proven that smoking marijuana would give a big percentage that you'll have a lucid dream, I would not. Heck, even if lucid dreaming could only happen if you do drugs(although we all know it does not), I would just forget lucid dreaming and live a drug free life.

I think doing an RC in a dream-like state (like a daydream) NOT induced by drugs will wirk just as well.

But I'm gonna try to stay drugfree. No use wasting lives just for a few LDs.

I've never done marijuana before so I'm not sure what the "state" you go in is like form a first-person view, but what hgld said is right. Doing RCs while you are in a daydream or dream-like state will most likely cause the part of your brain that stays awake in your sleep to remember to do that which will then wake up your logic center, allowing you to LD.

Yes, I have experienced what you mentioned, only once though as I am not a frequent user. It was quite amazing actually. I was "pulsing" in an out of a dream. If i used more mj im sure i could have sustained the state but this was a new experience and although it wasn't scary it was shocking. Basically for a couple minutes i would feel normal, then I would transition into a dream while being fully awake. It was 100% authentic dream feel, I remember telling my friend "I'm dreaming!" because I truly believed for those few minutes that I was dreaming, and he was in my dream. I would then go back to normal for a few minutes, and then it would happen again. I believe the pulsing effect was caused by my friend who probably kept telling me I wasn't actually dreaming.

The transitioning happened without any queues, I didn't close my eyes and then open them only to realize i was in the dream state or anything like that... In fact, the transition was almost not even noticeable. I guess it was the realization that my awareness and perception had changed that made me realize i was "dreaming." It was like instantly being lucid in a dream. I can see how it would help him become lucid so often.

Also, on a side note, using mj made actual dreams much more intense as well. By intense I mean much more memorable, vivid and easier to become aware in.

Of course I wouldn't recommend breaking the law, but that's not to say I wouldn't recommend trying this if it wasn't illegal. There is lots of potential for experimenting with your own mind. I haven't used in a couple years but I think about this experience often. I'm not quite sure what you mean when you mention a "tough price to pay" unless you are referring to the illegality of the substance... I dont know what the laws are in Greece but in the US the legal consequences far outweigh the dangers of the actual drug itself (which is a shame).

marijuana will decrease recall trust me when i was younger i could LD nearly everynight after 10years smoking weed "decent stuff aswell"

by the time i actually thought about lucid dreaming again my recall was basically 0

after a few months training i could smoke and remeber dreams .. i gave up weed for 3months and had the most dreams/ LD's ive had in years

apparently smoking it affects your R.E.M sleep and when you have a day off or give up you try to catch up on what you missed so alot of users have found that they dream alot when they dont smoke it
so you could smoke it say friday night saturday and sunday then have the weekdays smoke free see if that helps
