So i just started all this a couple days ago... i want some advice!

I have gotten a lot better at dream recall and i have about 5 or 6 dreams that I can remember from the last two nights when I actually tried to remember. So I feel like I'm starting to get step one down. So the next question is, how do i get my first lucid dream?!?!? sould i start by doing reality checks all the time and hope that it carries over into my dreams? I'm hoping to find a more direct way that I have more control over. suggestions?

Yes. Do RCs first of all, and always ask yourself if this is a dream, even if it is reality. As I said, in my dream, I even asked myself if this was a dream (but didn't do RCs). I never questioned my dreams before until I started this.

Again, I will tell you my results from the FILD.

Yeah, start doing a lot of reality checks.

You said you want a method that you have more control over. I'd suggest WILD. Try doing the wake-back-to-bed technique (WBTB). Basically, fall asleep set an alarm for 4 - 6 hours after you go to bed. Once you wake up, walk around, do some reading/writing. Stay awake for about 30 minutes, then go back to bed and stay very still. Eventually you should reach sleep paralysis and you can induce a lucid dream.

      Best of luck

I plan on trying the WBTB method first and also just starting to do reality checks all the time during the day. Another quick question? is 4 am a good time to set my alarm for the WBTB method?

I use WBTB as my preferred method. You should wake up between 5-6 hours after you go to sleep. So if you sleep at 10, wake up at 4. Stay up for a minute or two to get a little bit more awake. Now fall back to sleep keep the thought of lucid dreaming on your mind, your mind will naturally wander at this time because you just woke up and you were probably dreaming, or were dreaming. The logic center of your brain turns back on when you awake so as soon as you enter the dream odds are you will instantly know you are dreaming.

I think it is very important to know and understand what reality checks are before begining lucid dreaming, which it sounds like you do. Its important to know how to preform one because when you do become lucid for the first time youll want to be able to prove you are. I think that may sound a bit weird to you being that youve never had a lucid dream, so let me rephrase and explain it in a little more detail. This is from my personal experience mind you, yours might be different. Most of the time I become lucid by realizing something absurd or very wrong in my dream. Mind you Im not lucid at this point in the dream, but eventually I guess the absurdness you could say becomes SO absurd my mind reaches a breaking point and the only explanation for it all is that I am dreaming, and it is at this point that I become lucid. But, I still need to prove that I am in fact dreaming so I then proceed to preform a reality check, which proves I am in a dream, and go on to enjoy my lucidity. The method I started with was MILD and still remains to be my most reliable. There are many methods that work, MILD is a very easy one to do and has been proven effective. So I would say start with that, with a WBTB.

As to whats been said above about daily reality checks, I have never tried doing daily reality checks, although I know they have been proven very effective by my friends and members on the forum. However I have no experience on the matter so I cannot comment on their ease of use or effectiveness from personal experience.

SO, that is why I recommend MILD as your starting technique. Here are some links to help you get started.

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/ci...luciddream.htm <----- A Website Containing More Information On Lucid Dreaming Including the Book Listed above

One more thing. The most important thing you can do, no matter what technique you choose, is practice. You MUST practice in order to gain lucidity. Without practice there is no lucid dreaming...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! Good luck!
