      Was This an OBE?

in reality, i had to go to work in 2 hours. So i decided to take a nap before i had to leave. I fell asleep and dreamt i was at the new school i just started going to this previous year. In my dream at the newer school, i saw a friend from my old school named mike. Okay, this is kind of weird, but have you ever had someone lift you up at the balls of your fists?and you have to keep your hands straight down and locked; anyway, i was walking down the hallway with my arms straight down and locked and then i started to float slightly above the ground and i was walking on air. as funny as it sounds, i was doing this to be taller than a african american guy i was walking with. And he was just laughing and asking me how i do that.

Then i went back home and i started to meditate. (this is still a dream) and then i started to levitate in my room and it feels like i was being lifted. Then i left my body and i started to fly outside. then, i decided to jump and i jumped way out of the earth and i landed on some other planet and i was looking at the earth. From my point of view, looking at the earth, it was rested in a crater, and a model of a girl's head was on top of the earth. In order to go back to the earth, i had to enter through her eyes. At this point, i knew i was dreaming, and even though it has always been a dream to explore outer space in a lucid dream, i said, "na, i'm going to go find mike" (my friend from the old school) and that's what i do everytime i'm lucid, i try to find someone. but i always wake up before i find them. and so i didn't get to see him again.

I don't want to sound presumptuous but it sound like you have not had an OOBE. Your experience sounds lucid. But lucidity is to be conscious you are dreaming, and to experience that, regardless of whether you control it.

But at least for me when I had my first OBE, I wasn't trying and it was distinctly separate from dream experiences. Because it was so extremely real, just like I was awake, but I knew I wasn't in the place of my normal conscious experience it was very frightening, though exhilarating. Whether an OBE is really a "soul" or other reality I can't say I know or have a belief. But for me, my consciousness has been distinctly away from my body and I could perceive my body as easily as the daily world I consider real. It is nothing like a dream.

Seems like just a crazy dream. Which is what OBE's are anyway, since they're not real.

I agree Bob. They probably are not "real"--but so what if they are just an experience of altered consciousness? As least for me they are very different feeling than dreams or LDs, and for that I am comfortable if they are just another form of dreaming. They are still cool experiences to have, even though my first was very frightening. I just won't be starting my own movement around them nor start selling books!

OBE's--yeah, you travel to some place real

When I had my OBE, I went to a very real place where the desert sand was blue and the mountain range far off was black. There were black stone craggy monoliths of various heights and widths all around the edge of the desert I had arrived at. I remember the quiet of the place and the feel of the coarse sand under my boots. I remember hearing the sand crunch as I walked out of the ring of craggy monoliths and towards the center of the vast blue sand desert. Where I was exactly, I don't know, but it was real. I could breath; I could use all of my senses because I touched one of the monoliths. I wasn't asleep, but I was in a deep self-induced meditative state. I had put my mind on "go somewhere" and it took me there to the blue sand desert. I left there by flying out of the realm and back to the present realm I call this reality. You know, the one of work work work, the 9-11 horror, and April 15th tax deadlines. I can't find any other reference of a place with blue sand, black craggy stone monoliths, or a tall black moutain range in the distance.
With Christ, all things are possible.

Yes, that was an OBE. Many people suppose that OBE's involve travelling in the Physical Plane -- the actual Material World. This is a wrong assumption. The closest the Astral Body can come to the Physical World is the Lower Astral Plane that overlaps the Physical Plane, but which superimposes upon it Content that appears symbolic and subjective.

I like the Subjective Fact that access to the Astral Planet Earth was guarded by The Goddess. It shows that the Earth is now under some Divine Protection. It is the most hopeful thing I have heard in a long time. I wish I had been the one to see it.

Well, everyone is entitled to some "Beginners Luck". Congratulations. I admire you. That dream was quite a gift.

Oh, and by the way, to make a habit of Levitating in one's Dreams is a sign of natural Nobility. It shows that you are a rank apart from the ordinary dream characters. You will probably find in the future that other dream character also may levitate -- there it would be encumbant upon you to recognize them as friends and equals.
