the key to OBE's?

ive been doing a lot of research on obe's lately and it seems like one of the most important things is to get into sleep paralysis. is this true? ive never been able to achieve sleep paralysis but am working on it. i know a lot of you believe that OBE's are just lucid dreams, but are there any of you out there that have had OBE's and believe its not the same as lucid dreaming? can you explain why you feel this way?

It's funny you made this thread, because I've been wondering the same thing. In my opinion, OBEs are just WILDs. I've been considering getting a book on OBE, because it seems to me like the whole book would just be one huge WILD tutorial, lol. And yeah, SP seems to be key. The methods I've read always say to watch out for vibrations and stuff. I'd love to have a good book on OBEs.

I've gotten sleep paralysis a lot of times...not at night, though. Sometimes after I wake up in the morning after a lucid dream i'm in sleep paralysis for a little bit.

The difference between an OBE and a lucid dream: OBE, you are on the astral plane, closer to the physical plane. You are like a ghost. You can walk around in your house, and see what's going on. You are not dreaming. You are in something like a mix of the dream and physical plane. AP is meant to induce OBE, but you could end up dreaming instead.

I approach lucid dreaming as a learning experience. When I was investigating OOB, I did not worry about the method, but the content. I noticed that in every OOB, although things looked real enough, there were always enough differences so that when you woke up and checked them out, you would conclude that you never actually left your body. I came to the conclusion that the experience is a question--how much reality are you willing to overlook to maintain your fantasies?

Ive had SP but no lucid. usually because i chicken out right when i hit sp because i think im doing it wrong
