Here is something you might try...
Sit cross-legged on the floor. Put something to look at in front of you. Try to make it small so you have to focus to see details. Then close your eyes, and open the left, then right alternating. Switch eyes every 30 seconds or so. When you switch, make sure you have a time where both your eyes are closed before opening one again. When you open your eye/eyes, you will want to focus on the object as quickly as possible. Every time this is done, at least for me, it calibrates the left/right perspective in my mind.
What it is doing is fixing a point of equality in your mind before anything is actually observed. Your minds expectation of the object will eventually bring your eye to that spot immediately after a few tries. Sometimes, it takes more or less tries.
Also, you can play around with each step of the process to observe the effects on your perception.
When I was a kid, this was a game for me, then I found it in a meditation book my brother-in law gave me. Its meditation mixed with attention exercises. Hope that helps
Its a little easier than seeing colors when you close your eyes, that has taken me a while to grasp. A candle flame is a really good point of focus btw...
