Why a pain in my chest?

On one occasion, in the middle of the night, whilst in bed, I saw my body on the landing just outside my bedroom. I thought that this might be an opportunity to have an OOBE, so I tried projecting my consiousness from my physical body (in the bed) to the other body (on the landing). It gave me a pain in the chest, so I stopped. I tried once more and, again, it gave me a pain in the chest, so I stopped altogether then, as I didn't wish to damage my heart or whatever. This seemed to be a hynopompic hallucination experience - but can anyone tell me why I got these pains in my chest when trying to project my consiousness?

      Acid reflux.

      Seriously, that's what it is.

^^ So, it's not a demon perched on his chest, holding his spirit in his body?

No - it wasn't acid reflux. I do have that occasionally but when it occurs it always gives me a pain in the throat, not the chest. These pains to which I refer have only ever happened when I was trying to project my consiousness to what I thought was my etheric body. Why should attempted projection cause acid reflux? I have, of course, read of people having a pain in the chest during a hypnopompic episode when they perceive someone nasty sitting on their chest but there was no such hallucinatory figure on my chest at the time.

You were either dreaming already, or having a hypnagogic hallucination. For sure not a hipnopompic hallucination since those occur after REM.

can anyone tell me why I got these pains in my chest when trying to project my consiousness?
Maybe you forgot to breathe? In all seriousness, it's probably just acid reflux, or just anxiety. Nothing to worry.

PS: shouldn't this be moved to general discussion or WILD cathegory? Sageous identified the demon as the harmless type, so it's all good

It also gives you chest pains, as evidenced by your experience of chest pains. Now you know.

I have heard about people experiencing pain in the place through which astral body separates. In your case, the chest was that place. It could also be from back of the head, and some other places I can't recall at the moment.

It's suggested to wear lose clothing, not to have any jevelery on, such as necklace, and have just light dinner.

It's quite possible, that next time you will not have any pain. I personally never felt any pain or other uncomfortable feeling. Good luck

Zothoo: It couldn't have been a hypnogogic hallucination, as they occur when you're falling asleep and this occurred a long time after I went to sleep. It wasn't a dream, as I wouldn't have been aware that I was in my bedroom if it had been a dream. So I guess it must have been a hypnopompic hallucination. I may well have passed through REM just prior to having this experience, for all I know.

zothoo: I put the post here in 'Beyond dreaming' as it relates to HHs, not dreams. It wasn't connected with WILD, as I wasn't practising WILD at the time.

really weird. sounds like a pretty random vivid dream to me. i've never experienced any kind of pain sensations with an OOBE. it could be also that you are having some kind of fear issue relating to OOBE's. maybe you are scared that you will experience harm in some way?

Have read from, and spoken to Robert Bruce regarding certain sensations that might be similar. He ascribes that certain chest based sensations are actually in the energy body, not the physical. Sometimes when experiencing astral projection he describes having sensations that felt like a heart attack. The sensations though were not not based physically as i recall him mentioning how he even had his pulse checked during these episodes. Pulse was normal despite having the extreme sensations in his heart.
