      Contacting people through dreams

I'm new to these boards, but not to lucid dreaming. A few years ago I was able to achieve lucidity almost on a weekly basis, and I hope that now that I've found this site I will be able to become even more adept at it. Anyway, I have heard stories about people 'spirit linking' in dreams. The idea really intrigues me because it's so incredible when you think about the magnitude of it all.

Has anyone here actually been able to willfully "reach" someone they know in the waking world through a dream? Or if not, do you believe it can be done? If so, how would one go about accomplishing such a thing? Would the person you are attempting to contact have to know about it and want to meet you as well?

In a way I tend to think it could work because if dreams really are this whole other world/reality, and if each of us become a part of that world when we sleep, then we should be able to contact each other in this way. Then again, maybe it doesn't make sense to use my reasoning and common sense when it comes to thinking about the fabric of dreams.

I started reading The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castenada and it's really got me hooked. Has anyone experienced some of the things he describes in the book? Such as closing your eyes and picturing an object or place and then being transported there? From what I could tell he wasn't dreaming, but rather he was taken to another place.

Many people believe many different things when it comes to these areas.
A lot of people consider this remote viewing.

Look at our ongoing experiment in the Research Team. Shared Lucids.

Who knows what medium is used if this is possible. Is there an astral plane? Or a parallel universe (distorted )

      Thanks for the info

Yea parallel universes are cool. I read up on some of that remote viewing stuff and it seems interesting.

      Anyone else?

Thanks, I realized after I made the topic that it should have gone there.

OK, at first I was also a fan of Carlos Castenada. I first read A Seperate Reality and it was an extraordinary book. I figured, The Art of dreaming would be a good book to read next. I got about half way through it when I came to the obvious conclusion that a lot of that stuff seemed to be complete B.S. I mean I could imagine some things and cosider somethings but he kept jumping from one abstract experience to another, each one more strange than the last until it got to a point when I was reading were I pretty much said "WTH! This is absolutely absurd!" and just stopped reading. I dont mean to be close minded or discourage you from continuing your reading I just suggest you take a look at everything you read and see if it makes much of a plausible truth or even theory.

The remote viewing stuff I can somewhat understand but the whole deal about "Inorganic beings" and what not left me like this

I don't really believe in Astral Planes or stuff like that, but I do believe in Telepathy to a point, and I think if Sharing Dreams where possible, it would involve some sort of telepathy.

If thats the case, im sure the mind has some sort of safe gaurd against intrusion, so the person your trying to reach would have to be willing to allow you to "enter their mind" and drop the Mental block that the mind puts up so you can connect to them.

I've never experianced it, but if it exists, I think my above explination would be the most probable, but I could be wrong.

Back 40 years ago I had a dream that I was raiding the School Cafeteria ( I was a starving student ) and I met a girl I knew ... we were not close... we had a mutual friend. But we met in the cafeteria and had a friendly conversation ... we were both affable, congenial and sociable people (who enjoyed being invited to all the best parties, and so were careful to keep up out reputations for pleasant glibness) so, starving or not, both of us could not resist an opportunity to chit chat for awhile. Well, the next day we both met in the hallway, and we both knew as soon as we saw each other's eyes that we REALLY DID have that conversation. We each, simulataneously, repeated our little discussion word for word. It proved something once and for all eternity, that dreams can be objectively real and verifiable phenomena. And they aren't just in your head.

      Interesting thoughts

Philman- Admittedly when I first read about the "inorganic beings" I was thrown off simply because it sounded nonsensical and my rationality dismissed it. But then I thought that just because it seems strange to ME does not mean it's impossible or completely made up either. My own experiences, both in dreams and the waking world have made me certain of one thing. That is, nothing is really set in stone in terms of limitations on what is or what is not possible. The more I experience, the more this proves to be true. So while I have not ever seen any inorganic beings in MY dreams, I am not going to write them off as complete nonsense just because it's a foreign concept to me.

Kastro- I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm not sure about the mental block thing. A lot of people do not really give much import or value to their dreams. I think this sort of protection that you mention would be something one would have to work on and develop rather than just being an innate ability. Telepathy is a possible course for this sort of thing. I don't know anything about it though.

Leo- That is truly a remarkable account. Thanks for sharing, it gives me hope for this sort of thing. Did you ever try to do that sort of thing after that?

As for dreams in general, for awhile now I have believed they are not just manifestions of our minds alone. To me, the world of our dreams is a cosmic and universal reality wholly separate from our waking lives. It's true that many experiences we have in our dreams can be related to reality, but I believe that our dreams exist on an entirely different plane.

As a kid me and my dad were both sleeping on the floor. The next morning, for whatever reason, I began to tell him about my dream and after I started telling him he finished the dream for me. Wasn't lucid though, but still intereseting

It certainly seems like there would be too many variables for two different minds to have the same dream scenario play out exact. Too much for coincidence.
      WELCOME BY THE WAY!!!

So i'm interested in connecting to people in my dreams. can it be done in an LD and how can it be done. Is there a postsite that talks about this subject.

i should get better at LDing fist and i will but it cant hurt knowing more about this subject.

And maybe an interesting question. If you have a conection with someone and we're sharing a dream, does the other person also have to wake up to remeber the shared actions. must be bollocks if you share a dream and the other does not remember it

I think there's endless possibilities with lucid dreaming.
I read some time ago all of Castenda's books. For me The Art of Dreaming was the best. The reason is that as I read it I found him mentioning some things that I had already experienced. That's not to say there isn't alot of "bunk" in it just like the other books.

      I can relate

Hey, unfortunately I have no answers to your questions. I just wanted to let you know I share the same questions. The last two nights a girl has come into my dreams, I think her name is Kat, or something that starts with a K or a C. It might sound a little pathetic but me and this girl have developed some sort of a romantic relationship, it sucks waking up in the morning. I feel like I am falling in love with a figment of my own subconscious, or is she real, out in the world somewhere, having similar dreams? I think I actually had a dream of her several years ago as well. Anyway, please let me know if you discover anything on this subject! Travel well!
