      Ghost or Dream?

Ok someone asked about about childhood dreams on another thread and I remebered ghost I used to see. Only saw it a handful of times, used to move my bed around a lot(was in like 4 or 5 different places) and only ever saw it when it was in one spot.

It was a greenish ghost, details wasn't very clear but could tell it was a person. My brothers bed was on one side of the room and I was on the other side, the beds where parallel to each other against the walls. The ghost would come out from under my brothers bed and walk towards me, there was a ceiling light in the middle of the room and it would always disappear when it got to it. Only ever saw it at night, after I been sleeping for awhile and then woke up. I tried not to really look at it much because, well it was a ghost.

So what you think it was? A real ghost, or maybe I was just dreaming it all up. Or maybe half asleep I just saw stuff that wasn't really there. Was one other idea thats even weird I never thought about untill now, what if it was my brother doing astral projection but I saw him comming out of his body then after a few steps it disappeared and went off some where.

That's pretty weird, I'm not sure if it was a dream or not. Things always look a lot different at night...
One night in my room, I noticed there were these weird reflections on my wall. They freaked me out, so after a while I got up and looked around my room to see what was causing it. I completely blocked the window, and the room was pitch black, but the light reflections were still there. They've been there since then, and I guess I've gotten used to them because I don't notice it as much. Also, I've thought I've seen a ghost at night before, but it just turned out to be a white shirt hanging on a band stand..

Were you afraid when you saw the ghost?
Are you sure you were 100%?

YOu can have either imagined the whole thing up or you could have naturally tapped into your innate ability to see ghosts.

No one knows but you. Why won't you just scream the question in a dream and see what answer you get.

Yes I was scared. I really don't think it was a ghost though. At the time I did, but now not so much. I find it weird it only ever showed up in one spot and always did the same thing. Not just that but I only saw it from one angle. Had I saw it even once from a different place in the room then might think its real but I didn't.

Im afraid this probably falls under the false awakening category. There was probably nothing to be scared of, just a really vivid dream/nightmare.But, I could be wrong.

ya. ive been seeing some weird light too. Nothing new though since its been there for a few years. I always see it when all the lights are out and im looking at the hall from my room. Its a round light on the wall in the hall. I cant really find any source for the light. well theres my 2 cents.

Could be a dream or a ghost, we can only speculate. I feel that it is possible to see other astral entities. Another possibility is that you yourself had an OBE, without realizing, and therefore you can see many astral entities while in that stage.

Wow fundude thats just like mine, except that they're three streaks of light kind of like claw marks. They've been there for a couple years, too.

But just last night, I looked, and they were gone. Hmm...

Alric, after you wake up (especially after a light sleep) your astral body has less of a grip on your physical body. It sounds like it could have just been that you were temporally able to see the being because your astral body was loose... but who knows...

when i was about 7 years old, i remember waking up in the middle of the night and seeing 4 ghosts standing around my bed. they all had night gowns for clothes and skulls for heads. they were all different colors and were partially glowing. i wasnt that afraid, Im not sure why, but i did have a strange feeling that they belonged there, like they were there every night but i could never see them. one entity in particular was moving around a laundry basket net that was suspended on the wall ahead of my bed, he started behind it and worked his way around, then he started moving toward me. i would close my eyes for a few seconds because i believed they would go away, but they didnt. the ghost that was moving actually reset his position and started moving around the net again when i opened up my eyes. i closed + opened my eyes about 3 times. it was the exact same thing every time... i remember in great detail the setting, which was in effect the EXACT SAME AS MY ROOM in reality (if i were dreaming). is it that they were trying to show me something and they didnt want me to miss any of it? one theory that ive heard about ghosts, demons, monsters, etc. is that our dimension rips open to another dimension and it allows things from *otherly* worlds to come into ours for a short time. I truly believe that what i saw was real, and the more i think about it, the more i believe it. I do believe in ghosts, i also believe in very vivid dreams, so maybe we both did see ghosts? or maybe we both had some very vivid dreams (along with a billion other people who have seen ghosts )

I was in Paris about 6 years ago and woke up in the middle of the night to find my hotel room light on and an old woman (60's - 70's) standing in my room wearing a nice but intonate white dress.

I was groggy from just waking up, but not scared or nervous, I sat on the edge of my bed and said something like "hello, who are you?", she replied "I'm a friend, and I just want to tell you that everything is going to be alright".

She walked over and sat down on the bed next to me and hugged me (warmest most comforting hug I ever recall having real or otherwise)

She then said something along the line of that she had to leave now because someone needed her, I stood up to up to move a chair that was blocking the door, (very small 1 bed room, typical European 3 star hotel) she said that it was ok and that I could just go to back to bed, I said good bye to her and got back into bed.

The next morning I woke up and felt amazing, well rested, alert and very happy which is odd for me as I normally am a bear when I wake up and take a good hour to really wake up. The light was off and the chair was where I had left it prior to going to bed in the way of the door.

No clue if it was just an extremely profound dream that has staid with me me for years, or something more. Even if it was just a dream I still feel that it was an amazing experience either way.

So guess thats a bit of an odd first post, but oh well

      Cool site btw

      Welcome Smith!

One night when I was in the latter stages of inducing a WILD, my sister walked in and sat on the edge of my bed. It was in a hotel also. Made the hairs stand up on my head. Reality or Hypnogogic imagery? I'm really not sure.

I like Paris, where did you stay? Last time, I stayed in the St. Dennis area, just down the hill from Monmartre and up the street from Moulin Rouge

A small hotel called "Hotel Excelsior" I wouldn't really reccomend it, but it was clean and affordable 6 years ago

      It was a ghost

I had a similiar experience one night when I was 12 year old. I was sleeping and in the middle of the night I wake up to see a white person standing right in front of me. The person was white and semi-transparent and was walking around the room. I was so petrified I could not move, the only thing I could do is stare at this strange being. He wallked around and leaned over my cousins bed (he and i where in the same room) and then he turned around and left through the window. The window had iron bars with a mosquitoe screen. I remember that as soon as he went through the window the whole screen shook. I got up and went to the screen to still see it shaking from the spirit having gone through it. I am pretty sure this was not a dream and I know there are other being out there that we are not aware of.

Another time many years later when I was 20 i had another experience. I woke up and I felt a black shadow flying over me. I was in a strange state where I could not fully wake up but I was still concious. I felt this shadow go over me and get next to me. I tried waking up but could not, it was as if i was under a spell. I opened my eyes but could only see a blur. Anyways this being started touching me in my back. It felt as when someone starts tapping your fingers on your back. At that point i was not afraid, i decided that if i really wanted i could will the being to stop and wake up. I decided to let this being do what it wanted. However all of a sudden the pressure on my back started becoming uncomfortable and the pressure harder. I willed myself to tell this being to stop and tried to "push" it away. It worked and I woke up.

I have no clue what the experience meant and what significance it had. Maybe somebody here knows more about this supernatural phenomena.

I Think I have a spirit that visits me in my sleep. Once I had a dream, a long time ago, that there was this guy who was extremely angry at everyone, and he destroyed everything, there were many who wanted to step up to him but were scared, including me. But he always got his way and nobody would disrespect him. But I then steped up to him and tried to fight him. He wanted to kill me and make me suffer horribly. There was a great evil that I felt at that time and I couldn't handle it so woke up. But I woke up with someone sitting on top of me while I was laying on my bed. The room was dark and I couldn't see or open my eyes just yet. I could feel his weight on me and when he sat on me I "ooffffttt" by the wind being pushed out of me. I then felt he was trying to grab my right hand and selected my middle finger, I felt like a pair of sissors were trying to cut the end of my finger (from below the nail) I then got worried and tried to open my eyes. I then saw a black, shadow, figure outline that was disapearing slowly. I didn't know what just happened. And everytime I tried to remember the dream, I felt a great evil feeling that made me want to forget what just happened.

Anyone know what this may have been. There have been other situation that are different from this one, where a spirit has visited me.
When I dream, theres always a
little girl playing in the dirt, that
turns to me and says "Why are
you here? .... Are you blind like
      me?"

      What I've found
      What I've known
Never shined to me what I've shown
      Never be
      Never free
I wish to see what might have been...

IZ, I believe your experience is the same thing as the one I quoted from droman.
I have had a similar experience, and it is sleep paralysis. I had it 2-3 times where I can't move a thing, I feel like I'm being suffocated, and I see a man of some sort near or on top of my bed. Once I felt extreme evil and the other 2 times I just felt like "wtf?"
I read about sleep paralysis because of these experiences and it is actually quite common. People almost always see/hear things that aren't there and almost always feel a pressure on their body in addition to not being able to move. Some people feel extreme evil and fear.
It is so common that theres a word for it in Korean and in Chinese. In English slang, I believe it is called scissor-lock.

      I hope that helps.

Sleep Paralysis, so no spirit visits me, but its all in my head. I dont think the Spirit thinks that way either.

even though i'm positive this wasn't a dream and i hadn't gone to bed yet, i was waiting for a freind to come pick me up, the house was mostly dark and i wanted to stay in the living room, i looked at the bathroom door, the hall was dark, my sisters room was dark, my room wasn't, inside the bathroom some boy apeared about, 4, 5 inches from the sink, he was only white glowing outline, he was about my size, he was wearing what looked like my school uniform, of course it was see through, he walked torword the shelf built into the wall,(wich is in the bathroom,) and disapeared about the same distance from that as he apeared from the sink, my room was behind that shelf, and now when ever i pass the bathroom, i quickly turn on the light, as if some beast will eat me if i don't.

I just had a experience a few days ago.

I was in a hotel, and in the middle of the night, i saw someone next to the bed, i said out loud : Hello?, Hello? (my girlfriend woke up and heard me saying it as well).

It thought it was someone standing there, it looked real, too quick to describe it.

I thought I was awake, but then i tell myself i was having a dream, i always had big doubts about ghosts. let's say that i keep the option open now. It looks like I speak out loud in my dreams sometimes.

A few night before ,there was a program on TV about ghosts, so i don't know if it influenced a dream.

When i told my girlfriend that i thought I saw a ghost, she freaked out

put your hand up like on the wall where the light is and keep moving your hand away from the wall making sure to keep moving your hand so you still see the shadow on the light... where your hand goes finally ends up is most likely the primary source. I also use this trick to find security camers by pointing in random directions 'till on the screen it shows me pointing at myself then i look wherever im pointing

Well, when I was younger I also had an experience similar but not quite the same. I was about 6 or 7 and I remember waking up and seeing this person standing kinda at the corner of the bed. I was terrified...but I think the worse part was that the figure looked like those portraits of Jesus . I remember the figure did not say anything at all but rather communicated what it was thinking by looking at me. It was trying to say that it was okay not to be afraid that it was there to protect me.

I paniced and ran to my parents room...past the scary figure BTW...they of course told me to go back to bed. When I got back to my room the figure was STILL there AND standing behind my bed (kinda in the wall actually) was this dark sinister figure...

I ran down the hall crying and I think that I peed my pants (literally)
I was seven what did you expect.

Whoa, that really is quite freaky. My experience isn't quite as freaky as that, but I think it scared me as much.

When I was about 9 or 10, I shared a room with my younger brother. I got up one night to go to the toilet. The toilet was across the hallway from my bedroom. As I started walking I glanced towards the toilet. The door way open, and there was an old man dressed in grey, with a long white beard, sitting on the toilet seat. It totally freaked me out. I know it wasn't part of a dream because I ran and hid behind my brothers bed and that's where I woke up in the morning.

I have thought about this quite a lot over the past few years and I figure it was either an hallucination of some kind, or I was still half asleep and dream imagery was somehow mixed in with what my eyes were physically seeing. I guess that could be called an hallucination as well.

I then read a book called 'The Holographic Universe' that suggested that ghosts are tied back to emotional events that took place at a particular place, and if that emotion was strong enough at the time, it might leave behind an association between that place and that event. And it is at such places that these images replay themselves from time to time. It mentioned something like how ghosts often seem to repeat the same thing and do not appear to see what is happening in the real world around them.
