      Oh, yeah, and, after a bit of digging on the almighty randi.org [ironic angel noises], Atlantis has been found about 5 times now, I think. Somewhere in Peru, the Atlantic and several places in the Mediatatatereren. It's like they find the damn thing every year. Relevant Topic.

      Umm...just wanted to put my input on this topic. (sorry folks, I didn't read all like 10-12 pages)

      Man is definitely gonna destroy themselves. In Biology, we're learning about populations and got into the human population recently. With reduced fertility, the population by the year 2100 will be about 11.2 billion. That's not that bad, right? Well, at the current rate or without reduced fertility, it will be 40 billion by 2100. Now, I can't imagine living like that...with so many people. The human population is growing exponentially..which isn't natural. We might be way pass our carrying capacity, we might not have reached it, we might have reached it just recently. We're not sure, though I think we passed it. When a population grows exponentially, at one point, it's gonna hafta either level off then, level off then decrease or just have a rapid decrease. We're probably gonna have a rapid decrease (my opinion) just knowing human society.

      Developing nations (e.g. Sri Lanka, Brazil, Mexico...others) arwill be a problem with population. Since a lot of them are poorer countries, people can't buy birth control, etc, for babies, and just keep having them. We really need to do something about the amount of the younger generation. It's estimated that the population of these developing countries will double in 20-25yr. if we don't do anything about it. The developed nations will take more like 50-75 since we have the money and technology and lifestyle to have less children and stuff.

      Okay, I usually am not this smart, but I just learned all this in Bio, so it's fresh on my mind. =P These are all estimated guesses, obviously no one knows what will really happen. If anyone would like me to elaborate or something (for whatever reason), just ask ^_^;
      w00tness.

      ^How exactly did you make the connection between the increasing population and us wiping ourselves out? That's almost contradictory.

      Live for the moment.. if the world is doomed to end you can't change that anyway. I don't believe it is doomed though and we can all change our future for the better...

      Human beings periodically kill each other in wars for something like "who ate the last slice of Tony Blair's cheesecake without asking", so there's no problem about population.

Yeah, alot. And anybody can intepret the \"mechanism\" as anything, the \"half fire\" as real fire, the sky turning red, there are just tons of things. If you said \"Somewhere in America, on the 23rd of Janurary, 2008, a small black box will be triggered by an evil person, which will cause the earth to literally crack into two peices,\" then I might be more inclined to pay some respect to it, but \"This mechanism that can't be seen will make a half fire thing appear after twenty years\". There's like, a ton of different ways to end up interpreting that. And the world isn't going to end anytime soon anyway. Best bit is, you'll never be able to prove me wrong on this one because if the world does end, we'll all be dead so you can't say \"Kaniaz, you were wrong\". joking.
      I said it's likely to be twenty years, maybe, before it happens -- technically, it could happen at the witching hour tomorrow night. The thing is, because it's dependent on this mechanism, which involves a human being and a particular place, and luck like the kind you have with the lottery, I can't say exactly. The thing is, this mechanism will fulfil its purpose before this person dies, and I'm guessing that if it doesn't happen until just before he dies, then it might be twenty years before it happens. You see?

      I'm not angry -- I know the problem with being vague (or trying to for the most part) is being misinterpreted. ^_^;

      And yes, I know, "If you can see the future so clearly, then why can't you see the exact date?" Well, because among the flashing scenes of destruction and choas, I have yet to see a calendar, and nothing else is specific enough to give me some sort of clue.

      And the Half-Fire is a real fire, I can say that for sure. Real, scalding flame. Brace yourself.

      Right. So it could happen roughly...anytime, because this person may not even be born yet.

      Hey, some people were born on September 11th too -- it's not their fault. Anyway, this guy's NO Hitler, that's for damn sure.

      They also make it harder for people to use proper reasoning to discount something, or prove it.

      True, true...

      OK, you asked for it.

      Ahem, you remember what I said about the mark and the base? Well, the mark, the person, is George Takei -- born on April 20, 1939, although some sources say 1940 -- and the base is his bed. Sort of like a fatal feng shui thing. Anyway, so ever since 1991, he's been hitting the sack and it's been hit-or-miss with the mechanism -- obviously miss, since the Demi-Apocalypse hasn't been triggered yet. However, one California night, he will lie down to sleep and fwoom! Spontaneous combustion at its finest. The fire will not be all-destructive -- hence why it's called the Demi-Apocalypse, or Half Fire. It will only destroy everything on the surface of the earth, all the ground and living beings on it. It will be aided by the Four Pegasus, who will oversee it. After they sense that everyone is prepared to die, they will help the fire to grow thick and burn everything. Once the surface is cleared away, lava will pour through to the surface and the world will be created anew, just as it was at the so-called beginning of time. Everyone will be reborn anew, as well.

      ...

      Go ahead, call me crazy. I know it must sound it, from a mundane perspective -- as well as slightly scriptural -- but that's what I've seen.

      Yeah, um, thanks...

      See, this is why I prefer being vague -- although, being ridiculed is part of the package and I should be used to it by now...

      Edit: And I did offer my vision/knowledge, so I guess I was asking for it, too...

      Sorry to be so blunt/harsh in my response earlier...but is there any proof or evidence that you can offer to back up your claims? Or ar we to simply trust your obviously immense wisdom?

      Argh! I can't believe that I'm letting myself get involved in this.

      dude how can somebody can back up a claim with evidence of something that might happen?? why do you always want physical evidence for non-physical means??
      if they could have evidence what type of evidence would you want to see?

      Call me crazy, but I like to have evidence of things before I support them. If no evidence can be shown, as you believe is the case in this situation then why hold that belief?

      so one shouldn't hold a belief in the mind or consciousness?? they can't be defined by physical evidence only how the brain reacts to them which makes them non exsistent as "you" would say. then if so why hold a belief in anything including science??

      You're starting to think rationally! What a glorious day.

      Unfortunately you're missing one key concept. Indirect evidence is still evidence. (ie. Since we can observe the effects of your own and other people mind's and conciousness, that constitutes evidence of their existence.) Keep up the rational thought though, its a big improvement.

      PS. If you don't stop using so many question marks I'm gonna flip out.

      indirect evidence is obselete because it doesn't comfirm or deny the exsistence of something.
