The ear closing I know: every kid has done this and every kid had loved it since it sort of disconnects you from your physical enviroment and makes you retreat inside your mind a little.

And what you mentioned: Asking yourself paradox, philosophic questions while in the middle of a alot of people can induce a significant disconnection from reality and confused, disoriented type of trance.
Also there's more questions that the Mind cannot comprefend that can get you in trance if you ponder them a while.

Here are a couple of MindFuck-Questions to ask yourself and wonder about:
-Eternity: How "Time" is an Illusion and that there always was and always will be. Sure a Mindfuck.
-Infinity: Infinite space: How is it possible that there is NO END to space? but then again it COULDN'T have an end to it either. WACK! ponder that for a while
-Diversity/Possibilities of Life/Existance. Think of existance as a single source of energy which flows through all living things. Imagine all those creatures and plants: Trees, Frogs, Hippos, Giraffes, Lions, Tigers, Colorfull birds, Sharks, Wales, Humans, Bears, Dogs, Cats, Musquitos, Spiders, Snakes, Iguanas, Gillamonsters, Kangaroos, Dingos, Tasmanian Devils, Chimpansees, Most bizarre, beautyfull flowers, Platipus'es, beans, herbs, Mushrooms, bacteria, amoebas....man it just never stops. "Who" made this bizarre circus of existance all up? It's not "normal" just because we're used to it being this way. And "who" feeds it with this abstract energy called Life?

Presuambly you refer to 'fucking' ?
There's also the sublime ecstasy of love-making, which I suppose is another set of hormones acting to help insure the survival of babies.

There's a whole list of types of yoga which might be helpful here. Bhakti (selfless loving devotion towads e.g. Christ or Krishna), Raja (mind), Ashtanga (body/breath) etc etc...
I find Tantra a very interesting mindfuck system (superficially because it teaches advanced lucid dreaming and sexual energy techniques&#33 but also because its so-down-to-earth.

I would also add:
Looking out of the window of a train
Stroking a cat
Walking through the hills in fresh snow (silent whiteout)
Floating
Sunbathing
Eating very very hot food (or does this count as drugs?)
Pain
Hot showers, saunas, jaccuzzis etc


Another fun thing to try with your eyes:
close your eyes
look at the sun
spread out the fingers of both hands
wave them up and down in front of your (closed) eyes so that the light strobes through the gaps...
try faster/slower, alternating/ or in unison, overlapping or with fingertips brushing.

Indeed. very unnervingly wierd I've seen likewise animations before but this one is defenitely the best.

The effect seriously is very similair to Visual Mushroom distortions.

A fairly neat one I found, if you're looking in the mirror, and it's dark outside, flip the light off and on about every 10 seconds and watch your pupils dilate and contract.

Get a flash gun or camera with flash.
Go into a pitch-black room.
Hold one hand out in front of you.
Fire the flash at it with the other hand.
Wait until the after-image appears (a second or so)

I found one. Conciously watch every little dot appear here, if you manage this, you win lol.

i found one way to trance out pretty fast and hard. go and sit somewhere where you are surrounded by grass(i did this alot, because during Track, we did warm ups we would sit on the football field.) just stare at one blade of grass for a while, but keep as much of the other grass in your field of vision as possible.(note: it helps if its windy). when you watch one blade, and dont move your eyes, other blades of grass move in the wind, and it makes it look like everything is glitching. it is extremely tranquil. i would just zone out while the coach was talking, do this technique, and 30 minutes would pass like nothing.
