      There's something about OBEs...

So this morning I had my cell phone going off next to me on vibrate. I was actually dreaming for a good part of it (cell phone was going off in my dream but I couldn't find it). Finally I woke up, but the phone stopped. About 5 minutes later it started again, and it caught me right in between the awake/sleep stage. The vibrating phone started some insane vibrations which instantly 'woke me up'. I sat there struggling to get out of SP because it was extremely uncomfortable. When I broke out of it for the few seconds, the phone seemed like a faint sound, on the other side of the room. I sat there thinking, "whatever... I don't feel like turning it off" and immediately I was pulled back into SP and vibrations got very intense once again.

At that point I realized I had not felt vibrations like this during SP for a long, long time. I decided to let it keep going, and I was fully aware of where this could possibly go...

So then I sort of "feel it", a slight slip and the feeling of vulnerability - holy shit it such and unbelievably scary feeling. I felt like I was "exposed" to a point of insanity. A few seconds later I decided after briefly gaining a blurry vision of the room, and realizing I had trouble just moving. I decided I wasn't up for it and woke myself up. (I'm actually pissed off now that I did)

Now, a lot of people claim to have OBEs... but I from personal experience - I have had plenty of dreams about OBEs. Just the regular WILD where I start out in SP, "roll out", and a few seconds later I'm in my dream room. Nothing really special.

But out of the hundred or so WILDs I've done since joining, I can only say a handful (and I really mean like 5) of them felt so different, and not just feeling of being exposed and vulnerable for me. Human instinct tells me it's something other than the ordinary lucid dream, but it's easy to be deceived. Maybe my brain was producing extra DMT, or the anticipation of having one caused it (but I've anticipated many times... and this time I wasn't really anticipating it). Maybe my mind playing tricks on me, or the rare event of having an extremely heightened lucid dream...

I'm not here to tell you to believe in OBEs, because I haven't decided for myself even after a year of considering the possibility, but I have some questions regarding OBEs and heightened lucids.

For the believer: What kind of qualities separates an OBE from a regular LD for you?

For the skeptic: What kind of qualities separates the heightened lucid dream from the regular LD for you?

Qualities that separate the OBE/heightened lucid from the regular LD for me

1 - Distinct feeling of a second body that feels unlike the physical body.
2 - Exposure and intense feeling of vulnerability.
      3 - Hyper awareness.
4 - A sense of "how close or distant" I am from myself initially.

I'm trying to think of more, there's maybe two more that I can't think of right at this moment, but notice how I didn't mention "very clear vision or... everything is exactly where it's supposed to be". For scientific purposes, you do not actually leave your body and travel the physical plane during an OBE. This has pretty much all been disproven unless our conscience or soul is somehow made up of unknown and undetectable dark matter or something of the sort. But traveling to an overlapping plane is a (unproven) possibility.

I've had lucid dreams before (by accident) and a few OBE's, also by accident. Here is the main difference for me. When I've had lucid dreams, I've been asleep. When I've had OBE's, I've been awake and knew exactly what was going on. I have to disagree with you when you say "For scientific purposes, you do not actually leave your body and travel the physical plane during an OBE." Yes, I have left my body, been awake enough to notice the seperation, and been awake when I entered it again, still in my room, in the physical plane. Your physical body is made of matter, which is just light vibrating at a very slow speed. Your "dream body" (astral body) is made of light, which is just subtle matter. Both your physical body and astral body occupy the same space, except during an OBE, when you can feel them seperate. I've had dreams about OBE's, but they are not the same as an actual out of body experience. I'd love to have more of both...
