Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. That books is stupid as hell and isn't worth it's weight in feces. |

My grandma came over, and brought 2 books with her. they are somewhat related to "The Secret", and there itsays that in lucid dreams you can go to a sector of the plane of possibilities and never return; if that should hapen, doctors will say that the person died in their sleep. i do not know what to think, because of all the things that people say about you being unharmed by dreams. she also explained to me (taken from the book) that inn dreams dreams your soul is out of your body and that your soul is the one that leaves and you die becsause of thet... ni don't get it... she asked me to quil lucid dreaming, and i do not want to and i do not believe the stuff about dying. on the other hand, i would not want to risk it. if i did quit i would have a chunk missing from my interests list... i cannot imagine life without LDs. |

Yep, I don't believe in any of the soul/leaving body/getting lost in dreams thingies (not to say something else). |

Saying quantum physics explains cognitive processes is just like saying geology explains jurisprudence.
Its a load of bollocks. Theres spiritual and New Age beliefs, and then there is just utter crap. |

Complete bullshit. I've fallen off of many things and hit the ground straight on...I was dead in my dream but fine in real life. If you die in a dream you officially suck! |
|
And just to clarify my statement a bit. You can still gain all emotions and learning from dieing in your dream. In invaluable learning in my opinion. I mean, it can be exactly like reality. However, you don't die and you still feal like you did. Imagine, learning a lesson like that from a dream. |
|
Just to add on to the answers, it is rubbish. You cannot die in a lucid dream (or any dream for that matter) and your sould NEVER leaves your body. That is absolutely rediculous, anything that happens happens inside your brain. It is sorta like thinking, try thinking of dieing right now, I am 100% sure you will not die from it. |

i found out a little more about it- something about parallel dimensions orsomething, i do not fully understand... i don't know she warns me and believes this. i told her that its proven that dreams are a product of your subconcious, but she says the soul leaves and gets trapped. |

Am I crazy?
what your grandma believes is one thing (strictly unscientifical but anyway) |

I would say that Dreamviews seems to have a fairly normal mortality rate. |

I'm fed up with all this krap of people trying to deminish LDing simply because they have little knowledge of it. For now on I'm not waisting my time trying to prove to people that Lucid dreaming is safe!!! If they indeed know much about LDing then they would probably know that it's completely safe!!! For now on, everyone needs to learn how to use research before judging |
|
.................................................. ................................
thats so stupid. what kind of people buy books like that? think of all the people here that have been LDing for 10+ years. if there was a threat, even a small one, dont you think these people would have found it by now? |

^that site is a great way to make extra cash.
thats exactly what she says that its not proven. when i give her the facts, she just has a solemn look on her face and says that she warned me. |
|
Am I crazy?
If that was true then how would anyone know? Anyone who would've experienced it would be dead. Don't worry, you're completely safe |

Everything makes sense once you stop thinking about it
It's hard for our soul to leave our body, when it doesn't exist. |

I find that funny that you think the soul doesn't exist. Science can't prove everything, and religion can't prove anything, so why believe what either says unless you find out for yourself? If your scared to LD then don't, its just that simple. |
|
I'm not gonna get my self into some huge discussion about faith and other things, but why would a simple work of chemicals and mechanics, which is exactly what our body is, have a soul? I fail to see the connection. |

At the risk of being the pariah of Dreamviews, I'm going to disagree with everyone here. |

In dreams of unspeakable joy—of restored friendships; of revived embraces; of love which said it had never died; of faces that had vanished long ago, yet said with smiling lips that they knew nothing of the grave; of pardons implored, and granted with such bursting floods of love, that I was almost glad I had sinned—thus I passed through this wondrous twilight. —George MacDonald

Hey, I'm not going to argue over all the scientific evidence there is aginst a 'soul'. That discussion belongs in R/S forum. But you can't say we don't have evidence to what we say if you don't know. |
|
Saying quantum physics explains cognitive processes is just like saying geology explains jurisprudence.
That's my point, I think. We don't have evidence that there is no soul or that what OP's grandma says is or isn't true. Yet everyone is posting in this thread with absolute conviction that they are 100% right, and the whole concept is hogwash, when the correct answer is "we don't know." |

I'm in the "its complete rubbish" category. |

"Men cry not for themselves, but for their comrades."
Because one takes a truthful standpoint does not mean one claims the soul does not exist. I do not claim the soul does not exist, I merely stated a fact completely irrelevant to whether the soul exists. |

For the record, I don't believe either that the soul leaves the body during dreams. As a Christian, I base this on the passage that says "the body without the soul is dead." So in that much, I'm in agreement with Hiros. Though while you believe that it doesn't exist, I believe it does, and one day, when you die, that is the only part of You (capital You meaning, your being) that will continue to exist. |

I like how you're using Plato's "Forms" Did you know that? |
|
The soul is merely a human construct, deviced to explain our consciousness. Since then we've learned, that using super-natural explenations for things we don't understand, is not the right answer. |
