I heard on a recorded radio station clip from youtube that the Illuminati came down and told the Mayans (an numerous other Indian cultures) *something* about December 21, 2012, and that's what caused them to end their calenders on that date. It also just happens to be the exact date which the earth and sun line up exactly 90 degrees with the center of the galaxy or something. There was also a show on discovery about the date, but it was mostly explained like "every culture, and fortune teller in history predicted that there would be the end of the world...could it be 2012?" and they were talking about the apocalypse in the bible, and other stuff which has no direct connection with that specific date at all. But there was another thing about an Asian book (I forgot what it's called) and it had to do with flipping 3 coins, and depending on how many heads and tails you got he would write out either a strait line or a "broken line" and another guy decided to put all of them together in a certain order, and then graph them on a line graph, and put it on a time line, and it pretty much perfectly showed the events of the past. There was a big spike on the rise of the roman empire, and a big downfall on the fall, and stuff like that. And it just completely ended on around December 21, 2012, AND it was the lowest point on the graph.
But to be honest with you, I'm not at all worried about it. People will think of ways to prove it right even after the date is gone.

That's pretty pointless unless you have a "mother" to put the seed in. How old are you? o.O

Jeff the goverments of the world have made a huge supply of plant and tree seeds in like a vault underground, if global disaster happened and people survived they would use the seeds to grow food etc, they also have different species of animals aswell.

No, no, no....not the Illuminati... It was ELVIS!! He did it right after he outed the Priory of Scion and left Earth with the Holy Grail and the Gunman from the Grassy Knoll!

If you look at Terence McKenna's Time Wave zero theory, time becomes non-linear on Dec. 21st 2012. When asked what he thought about this, he said he has thought a lot about this and best believes that a time machine will be invented and a whole bunch of people from the future will come to visit "the first time machine". So that's part of what his theory is. I don't think he has ever said he thinks alien will touch down (besides the one in your head if you smoke DMT ) The time wave zero is a mathematical sequence based on the i-ching.. it's quite fascinating. Terence with the help of some others also created a software program for this. You can actually download the program and play with it if you know where to find it.

Oh and the doctors said that using drugs had nothing to do with his brain tumor. Terence suffered from cluster headaches for much of his life as well (well before taking any drugs), so I would reckon it was just time for him to go.. part of the grand scheme of things.

I'm sure terence would have loved to been alive for 2012 though... but, as he said, most prophets don't get to be alive to see the day of their prophecy...

I'm not completely sure whats gonna happen. But on 2012 dec 21 our solar system will be in
complete galactic alignment. (and I think our entire solar system will be directly in the middle of all the constellations)

How could the whole 12/21/12 thing mean anything at all?
Remember our dates are all based on the date of death of some jewish guy who the mayans had never heard of.

You must not let the fact that it's an arbitrary calendar trick you! The same you could say with mayan calendar, or anything else related to 2012. It's all arbitrary but it somehow has some special connection...

You must look at it symbolically, not causally. Because if you look it causally, then everything looks nonsense

"Time" is the concept of an agreeable constant comparable and measurable change.

Once that idea of change becomes immeasurable and incomparable between individuals our communal idea of "time" goes out the window with it.

I highly doubt people will be able to agree on what "time" it is after Dec. 21 2012...

Our perceptions of "time" will change... They are already changing... They have already changed...

      Quick...What "time" is it?

      -sighs-

For the people who have reverted back to the thinking of animals, thus losing the ability to look at themselves from an outside perspective:

If you look at ANYTHING symbollically, there will be some "special connection". Humans are pattern makes, and you doomsayers, conspiracists, etc are the greatest of them all.

Someone (Mayans, dead jewish guy, whatever) comes up with a CLEVER pattern and nothing more, then says "how many minds I can fuck if I say [insert apocalyptic/glorious/ground-shattering/equally ridiculous event here] will happen?"

In fact, that Mayan astrologist will probably be turning in his grave laughing when you guys look up to the sky like turkey's in a thunderstorm. He pulled a prank that has lasted thousands of years, and calculated a punchline several generations ahead of his life.

      BY THE WAY

I can tell you EXACTLY what will happen on that date:

The smarter of you conspiracists will laugh and say "wow, for (four years at least, if you're one of those who aren't skeptical in this post... but probably even longer than that) I've been worried about what will happen. What a waste of time." And then you won't get into anymore conspiracies. I know this from the experience of a few friends who would ALWAYS come up with some crazy bullshit (demons are after me, Bush is the anti-christ, on 6/6/06 the world will end), and whenever nothing happened they grew up.

The worse part is, some of you conspiracists will use your brilliant (yes, I say brilliant, because of some of the crazy shit people like you come up with), though horridly misguided minds to create an excuse as to why not one goddamned thing happened, because you're too stubborn to take that you're wrong.

      My prediction:

"Today there were mass riots across the world as thousands of doomsday hopefuls were disappointed at the world not ending. The real question is of those who have now sold and squandered everything they own; what will happen to them now? For more, watch the 8:00 news."

Your post is a big LOL. I mean it's all full of ad hominem which just reflects your cocky attitude.

It's OK if you believe whatever you want to believe. I respect that. But I really don't like your attitude of generalizing a whole bunch of people and calling them liars, crazy shit people, conspiracists, etc.

Maybe you can call your friends that because know them... , but that's all, don't criticize the rest if you know shit about them.

Of course the majority of popular conspiracies and superstitionsare nothing more than that: superstitions (and by that I also include big part of the new-age mumbo-jumbo) . But if you generalize everything and treat it as b* shit, it means you are talking out of ignorance. You seem to know practically nothing about esoteric and symbolical sciences (not the ones you read in magazines, btw), or am I wrong?

I know enough about people, (and yes, people IN GENERAL) and the way symbols misguide them. I don't need to look into the "science" of it. I can look at a story and can discern for myself its bullshit someone invented, just like any other reasonable person can.

And I dunno if its called ad hominem... I have nothing to prove here. I am not perpetuating a ridiculous idea and inventing (yes, inventing, not finding) every angle possible to make others believe so that I will feel like I have a purpose. Sometimes, you have to admit that you're the one insane, and its not everyone else around you being unreasonable.

Ok, you didn't answer my question so I guess the answer is that you know very little about the subject which you criticize.

By the way, you seem to be contradicting yourself in your post (perhaps self-projecting?):

      See the contradiction?

As a sidenote, I've never said everyone else around me was insane. Reread my posts. In any case, you are the one who started criticising people 'around' you.

      Dude,
Not to poke at you too much because I don't necessarily disagree with the bulk of your argument, but for someone's whose avatar is a copyright infringement of the cover of a Carlos Castenada book, you should tread lightly when speaking of "new age mumbo jumbo". IMHO

An ad hominem is where you attack someones character rather than the arguement. It's done when all you can rely on is baseless insults, and when you have no idea what you're talking about.

I think you missed this too:

I think you missed this too:
Note that this particular forum is ONLY for members who BELIEVE in the aforementioned topics.

      ...Oh.

      That explains it.

      Carry on.
Yeah, I had realized I shouldn't even BE here.

And the ad hominem is an assumption based on observation, merely.

In all regards, I was sort of angry when I had replied here, and sort of vented in the thread. It was rather immature and I apologize to those parties insulted.

I can disagree without bickering, but my opinion stands that nothing will happen except disappointment and/or events that will be caused by the people who believe in the date.

However... I don't believe that any topic should have only yaysayers... sometimes you need someone to challenge your position, so that you may fortify it for the better. But it'd be more productive to have someone who will argue, not flame like a prepubescent noob.

      So I'm sorry. -eats crow-
I am posting on topic elsewhere for the most part.

My DJ here at DVs, Realized Aspiration only contains old dreams. I'll be around for the occasional chat, and some unfinished/unstarted RPs.

And you, yeah you, with the ice cream hands. You, yeah you, are my friend. ~ Still my mentor, and an awesome guy.
