lol ive tried a bit of this, the periods for which they stare differs depending on how crazy you are |
you ever just sit in front of a mirror and stare at yourself...i recommend it while under the use of marijuana but either way....if you really start looking at your self and seeing what others see...its crazy |

I've heard of this. Apparently staring into a mirror for long periods of time can induce hallucinations or something. I've been meaning to try it for a while. I'd like to know if it has a name. |
Mirrors really creep me out when I think about them too much. I had to do a lot of self portraits back in design school. Try studying yourself in the mirror for hours on end with dramatic lighting while trying to hold a fixed expression. Makes you want to go turn the TV on to ease the freaky-tension. |
good god, you think weed makes this cool, try it on some psilocybe mushrooms. |

It is very trippy, and it sometimes causes me to hallucinate. My perception of what my face looks like starts doing crazy stuff, and I look like all kinds of other people I have never seen. I used to do that a lot in the third grade. I would do it with my mother's panty hose on my head, and then I would really look like some weird shit. Staring at my face in the mirror for a while also causes me to trip out over what I look like. It is difficult to explain the feeling, but it has something to do with having a better understanding of what I look like and feeling like it is a rare time that I REALLY get to understand what I am. That is probably because most of the time I am looking in a mirror, I am focussing on the facial hair I am shaving off or the way I need to comb my hair. When I look into the mirror to trip myself out, it is the only type of occasion when I stare into a mirror and think specifically about how the complete picture I am seeing is the same as what I am. I usually don't think about it like that, so when I do, it seems really bizarre. I highly recommend it. |

How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
u think this is wierd? try staring at a mirror in complete darkness with maybe a little light. crazy stuff |

The chance of the bread falling with the butter side down is directly proportional to the value of the carpet.

If you consider weed a drug you might as well consider tea, and herbal medicines drugs. |
actually try looking at a pictue of anyone and their face will morph too, not just your reflection |
lol i already do this and i find it very interesting.everyone should look at themselves deeper |
So it works without drugs? Stuff like this interests me but i've always been too scared to try it. |

This thread is funny. |
I did this last night while in the bath because I don't have a mirror in my room. |
If you don't blink, and focus just on your face, you won't believe what will happen once you reach the who is that stage. |
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
yeah its really cool though a little freaky the first couple of times you do it. |
That is weird.. I was thinking about this a couple of days ago and wondered if anyone does it. |

This is actually a mediation technique. It is a dream yoga practice. There is nothing to be afraid of. Your subconscious just starts projecting images. It will happen if you stare at anything in a concentrated way. In a mirror is the best though. You can actually get past your subconscious if you have strong enough concentration powers by ignoring everything except the depth of your pupils. Who is that in there? |
huh.uh...what do you mean a divine form in dreaming? |
In tibetan yoga they have deities. They are aspects of enlightenment. For instance there is the medicine buddha, Vajrayogini, Vajrapani, Samantabadra, etc. These are all considered aspects of the enlightened mind. The point is to identify with them. To unify with them and realize that You are Vajrapani, etc. For example, you would unify with Vajrapani to be more powerful, in an enlightened way. Vajrapani means lightning fist. Or you would merge with Medicine Buddha to heal people or be healed. The way you do this is by visualizing the deity in front of you and above with laser beams coming from his third eye to your third eye, from his throat to your throat, from his heart to your heart. Then he descends into your third eye, throat, heart, and you shapeshift into his form. There are female deities as well. The point of Tantra Buddhism is to transform your mind into the mind of a Buddha, your Body into the Body of a Buddha, and your speech into the Speech of a Buddha, so you have right thoughts, right actions, and right words. If you are successful you will have created an illusory body (dream body) that will survive death and can visit others in their dreams. |
