      Religiously based OBEs

Hi all, I was just watching a thing on YouTube about a guy who had an OBE and went to hell. He was a Christian beforehand, which explains a lot, but it was a very vivid experience for him and he says he got messages from God and Jesus.

Now, when it comes to things like this I am very shaken up. People always seem to relate OBEs to something REALLY spiritual, whereas all the ones I've had I just shrugged off as dreams.

From what I know OBEs are not religiously based in any way? I think that everybody's OBE experiences are unique, so how could this guy's experience be any more different from others? Do you reckon it's just that he was religious so his mind was going crazy, or is it something else?

Has anyone here ever encountered anything religiously based in their OBEs?

Thanks. And yes, I am paranoid.

I think you might be confusing an OBE with an NDE??

NDE's are spiritual. people either experience something heavenly or hellish, regardless of religious background. a rare few experience a void, again regardless of religious background. There have been jews who met Jesus, and christians who meet Krishna, Buddha, or Native American priests. Its easy to say people just experience what they expected, but thats not always the case. There have even been atheists who expected nothingness and they met angels.

OBEs generally are casual. you'll project into your room and float around and stuff. In other OBEs your project into the astral, so its more or less a dream.

astral projecting can be spiritual, but only if you make a spiritual practice of it. like meditating before projecting

Could I have some sources for the atheist, christian, jew meeting Jesus, Buddha thingy? That sounds really interesting!

This experience was definetly OBE, but afterwards the man was afraid that he would die. He wrote a book on it called "23 minutes in hell". It is different from an NDE.

I have had many OBEs so I know what they are like. Strangely enough... I never saw my body. I got SP, vibes, I could go through stuff, I could SEE through stuff... man they were strange. But I've only ever seen them as dreams, nothing spiritual. BIZZAREass dreams nevertheless, but this man seems deeply convinced by his experience.

Is it just that some people have a bit more of a 'spiritual bone' so they are more responsive to such experiences, maybe I just don't have it?

I've heard stories of people going to hell and seeing hell, but my religion is Baptist Christian. I rarely go to church I only go for the knowledge and I be too tired because I just started trade school. But from the things I've experience while being out of body were neither good nor bad because they didn't last long enough I would usually float up to my ceiling or fly around my room before I get pulled back into my body. My best advice is to say a short prayer and ask the higher being you worship to remove any negative and fearful thoughts and to keep negative entities away from you. That's why I do before attempting this and so far I've had good experiences.

But in my earlier days before I changed my ways, I used to get attacked and threatened by negative entities once I made it o the astral. I used to have so much hate for the world as a whole and certain people because of my terrible childhood. Dark spirits cannot hurt you physically while you are out of your body to the best of my knowledge I've been in fights and attacked, it felt weird but it was painless. After I brought a few books on astral projection and I've learned to radiate love for people no matter how mean they are (although this can be difficult at times) and despite the bad circumstances I grew up in will increase your chances of meeting good entities and divine beings such as angels and your spirit guide. That's my next goal to finally meet and talk to my spirit guide.

I think you first have to decide what you mean by "spiritual experience." What exactly IS spiritual? What is Spirit? What is this conciousness or sense of self that Journeys when you're out of body? Is it "YOU" or some expression of you?

These are the things that "religion" tries to define.

For those who have a strong sense of their own spirituality, an OBE is simply a manifestation of that already-held belief.

If you don't have a spiritual belief system in place, then there's nothing to tie an OBE to. Some would look at that as freedom, others would look at it as aimless.

Its your call in the end how you experience things.
Be yourself - everyone else is taken.
