      noises affecting dreams

sometimes when im dreaming i hear people bumping about usually when im close to waking up but instead of hearing a noise like a thud etc and then my dream making something of it,my dream actually has already anticipated the noises will happen for instance someone in my dream falls over and knocks something theyll fall then someone in reality will hit something just as the dream person falls or hits something.
ive tested this quite a few times to see if its true and it definetely is.
      anyone else notice this?

Yep, that's happened to me a lot too. I've heard others talk about it before.. some think that they're premonitions, others think that it shows that the memories of dreams are entirely created when we wake up. I don't believe the latter to be true for several reasons, but I also find it kinda hard to believe that they are premonitions as well. I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that one second of "real" time is about 20 seconds of dream time, so the noise occurs, your subconscious immediately registers it and points your dream in that direction, then you dream for a few seconds of dream time until the noise occurs in your dream. When you wake up, it has only been a fraction of a second of "real" time since the noise started, so you continue to hear it as you're waking.

I don't know if anyone will understand what I just said, and I'm not too sure of that theory anyway, but that's just my take on it.

yeah zaphod i see what you mean but ive got that before and woke up straight after its happened and usually while its happening im just as aware of the sound in the real world as i am of whats going on in the dream and it seems to be that theres no difference in time with either.

I've had that frequently as well. It's weird, but I'm not sure it would be considered "precognitive". I think it's more likely that our subconscious is much more "aware" of what is going on around us while we sleep than we can even imagine. I think that information is then transmitted into our dreams. I say this only because it seems like it happens at almost the same time or slightly before. But then again who knows? That is definitely something that warrants further study especially if one could learn to manipulate that "state".
      Ask and you shall know.
