A lucid dream is a dream in which you know you are dreaming.

An "out-of-body experience" is a dream in which you believe you are a ghost/spirit ball/energy blob floating around in the real world/astral realm.

Ayup, that's pretty much it. The induction techniques for WILD and OBEs are pretty similar most of the time, though.

      Moved to beyond dreaming~

This is probably not my first lucid dream but since it's the only lucid dream i could remember clearly and i am still asking for a scientific explanation.

At first i wasn't aware that i was asleep my alarm clock went off from my cellphone, i got up like what i always do in a weekday morning (wake up and get ready for work), i flicked my light switch on but does not turn on and i tried flicking it on/off various times and nothing happens. then i looked back at my bed i happen to see myself sound asleep. i was a bit confused and scared so i started to scream but no one heard me. i probably stood staring at my sleeping self for a few minutes and thought that maybe i am my soul and i have separated from my body so i must be lucid dreaming? i remember reading that i could walk through walls in a lucid dream so i walked through walls around my house and stumbled across my brothers bedroom. and he was awake too, him and his gf were getting ready for work. i tried talking to them but later on figured out that they could not see or hear me instead i just sat on his bed listening to their conversation. then i realized i wasn't the only one listening in the room some guy was also there basically eaves dropping too. thought he couldn't see or hear me either but he looked at me and asked who i was? and i asked the exact question back at him. he just replied back saying i got bored so i decided to just go to random homes and listen to random peoples conversation. and then he got up saying well i have to wake up soon then disappeared through the walls. then i woke up thinking i had left my alarm clock on snooze a few times now and i only had a few minutes to get ready for work.

that night after work during dinner i told my brother i had a lucid dream since he was the one who had introduced it. i told him i dreamt of him and his gf talking about planning a surprise party for a friend and how someone by the name Grace wanted to rent a limo for the birthday girl. My brother exclaims that around 5am in the morning that he was talking about the exact things with his gf while getting ready for work. so i'm a little confused. would that be a lucid dream? or was i a soul(a ghost of some sort even) in the real world? if so how could i have known what their conversation was if i wasn't in that moment in time.

if you have any idea what it was please let me know i'm dying to know! I have never dreamed of anything like that ever after that.
This is my only explanation for this...
When your sleeping sometimes our senses still filter through to our consciousness, but we're asleep so we don't really register them, although in our REM we're sleeping a bit more lightly than we do as opposed to our normal sleeping. So maybe you could have heard their conversation through the walls, and the sound has come out as a dream. (I'm not a strong believer in OBE's I just think they're beautified versions of lucid dreams). So you may have heard you brother and his girlfriend through the walls whilst you were sleeping but was still hearing it, you were just hearing it through your dreams, If that makes sense?

Since it was the morning you were probably in a REM period and also because of it being close the the morning you were in a lighter sleep-which means your senses are coming back from being asleep.

I agree with the explanation of Fall into the sky. It has happened to me before that I heard external sounds while I was still in a LD.

It's kind of hard to explain it all away as hearing external sounds when the person you're remote viewing is 3,000 miles away though!

I just answered Marcee's dream on another thread, and wrote elsewhere here last night about remote viewing. I don't want to repeat everything three times, so will let you find the posts!

lucid dreaming is a dream where we know that we are dreaming
(Of course we all know). During this we use our subconscious,
During Astral projection, this isn't just a mental thing, we are in the real astral plane. We are using our conscious astral body to travel through the realms. You really have to experience both to understand.

Agree completly. Though one can ascend from a lucid dream to the astral plane and when in the astral planes you can also observe people dreaming out whatever scenrio they happen to be dreaming about
