      anthropomorphic shared dreaming

For those of you who believe it's possible to do shared dreaming, do you think it would be possible to share it with an animal and talk to them.

I thought about this when I was hill walking with my dad and we met a guy who had been taking his dog for a walk and it had run off and he didn't know what to do 'cause there's no way he could find it and I was wondering if you could ask it in a dream to go back to the guy.

I've never had a shared dream and I'm not sure I believe it can happen.

I was just wondering what you guys thought.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but I don't see why not. If you can share a dream with a person why not an animal. If you did share a dream with an animal, would they be able to talk to you, I don't know, I would say no - they would probably understand you like they do in waking life. It's an interesting idea.

I don't know but there are A LOT of people who claim to be able to do this. And of course, make money doing it as well. Which is most suspicious. I have personally experienced some form of communication with animals many times though, so I won't go so far as to call them all a sham.

No. Animals don't speak English. Dreams won't magically convert speech or give you telepathic ability.

Then why can animals speak in our dreams and we can understand them?

I was talking with a wolf in a dream ( animal wolf ), I can't remember what language was being used but it was something I was understanding.

I must say that I do mostly agree with Loaf as I can't really see how they would understand us but I just thought someone else would come up with a solution.

Also d'you think you could communicate with them the same as you do in real life like by giving it food 'n' stuff

In my opinion, it would be impossible to communicate through a dream to a real, living animal. Why? Well, for one: animals and human beings have different cognitive capacities. Our system of communication is overly complex, too much so for an animal to understand. Of course, I could be mistaken, and it is the other way around -- where really, animals have more of a complex communication system that we as humans can not understand. This is true in the case of dolphins, who have evolved a system of communication that our feeble human brains can not even comprehend. That is just one example, and the only "proven" example, so I will generalize that all other animals are less cognitively complex and would not be able to understand our system of communication.

In a dream where you are talking to an animal, you are not actually talking to a real animal. You are just projecting an image and personifying whatever animal you have chosen to speak with, based on your own system of communication.

Also comes to mind the question: do animals have a consciousness? Sure, they seem like it, but again, that may be us as humans projecting a "personality" onto a less advanced, organic being. In the case that animals do not have a consciousness, you would not be able to share dreams with them. If it is so that animals do have a consciousness, it would be much different than ours and what we know of life, the earth, etc... I would imagine that animals have a much higher spiritual nature.

      Just my two cents.
