      Brain Waves and weird stuff....

I came across an interesting post the other day from RTCovenant about brain waves ( http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11656 ) and thought I would check out the brain wave generator for myself....

I usually listen to them while I'm sitting at my computer. I have been doing some meditation with these, but not listening to them while I fall asleep. I usually do this in the afternoon.

Well, last night, as I was falling asleep, I started to hear the sound of these resonant frequencies with some sort of cycle pattern to them in my own head. (I'm wondering if I was tapping into the Earth's natural background base frequency or something... go here for some more info on that: http://www.2012.com.au/SchumannResonance.html ... either that, or I was becoming aware of my own natural alpha and theta waves beginning to occur... go here for more info on that: http://www.bwgen.com/theory.htm). It was multi-pitched, with one lower tone and one higher tone together, that kind of moved back and forth from one ear to the other. It very well could have been just been some sort echo from listening to sounds like this earlier in the day...

But basically, I started to focus on this sound I was hearing and kind of meditate on it when a few weird things happened. First, I heard the sound of a rusty screen door swing shut. Then, in my right eye, I began to see some interesting light patterns which I assume were HIs. When that happened, I opened my eyes to see if a car drove by outside my window or something... but nothing... and it continued when I closed my eyes again.

Then my roommate got up and started banging around the kitchen and I had to ask him to shut up and it was gone.

Any ideas what this could be from?!?!

P.S. There are brainwave sound patterns to listen to that are supposed to induce LDs, like RTCovenant was talking about... but I want to try having an LD on my own before adding anything else to the mix, so that's why I don't listen to them at night

      Hey Pisces,
I downloaded that Brain Wave Gen software a few days ago - haven't tried it yet. But I read about how it works and it does make sense.

I'm no expert, but sounds to me like you were in the midst of doing the WILD technique! You were so close to an LD!!

The sounds and sights you experienced were (I think) hallucinations. You were right in between the stage of awake and sleep. If you would have stayed in that stage and not opened your eyes (or asked your roomate to stop banging around in the kitchen) - you could have slipped right into a dream... while being aware of it!

I'm still new at this - but I did experience this same thing years ago before I had even heard of lucid dreaming. Now I just wish I could get back to that experience again.

      Anyway, good luck next time!

PiscesDreams, I am not getting either of those two latter sites to come up??????
      Sounds interesting though.

Since I can't seem to access the links some of what I am saying may be redundant.

I know when we are awake our brain waves (or theyta rythems) are betewaves. As we become drowsy they become more like alpha waves. Then into sleep, delta waves and during REM they go back to similar bete waves.
But I am not sure about the earths frequency and if they have any coralation to the waves I have mentioned.

HOWETZER!!! LOL, thanks for letting me know about the links... I really appreciate you looking into this for me The problem w/ the links it that was trying to load the punctuation before and after the links (periods in the first, parentheses in the last) lol..

here are again and they should work (let me know!):

http://www.2012.com.au/SchumannResonance.html ...This page is a bit apocalytic in nature but still has good info. (If you're into end of the world stuff, the home page of this site is pretty interesting)

      http://www.bwgen.com/theory.htm

Some of what you were saying, howetzer, about which waves occur when are explained differently on the bwgen website...

And Tornado... I hope you're right Last night I was trying again and start hearing weeeeird crap again (but no HIs). As I was falling asleep, I swear I heard my computer turn on (it was definitely off) and it startled me so badly I shot up out of bed and went to see. It was still off.

Any ideas on how to not totally freak out and just embrace/ move through WILD sounds and HIs?? Because so far, they kind of scare me and I lose the possible WILD.-------->Maybe this should be in the attaining lucidity thread.....

Well, Pisces, when I experienced the sounds I heard someone going through my desk drawers. I was scared too. But what really freaked me out was the sound of someone whispering "HEY!" right in my ear!

Now that you know the sounds are not real, you just have to keep remembering that - no matter how scared you get. It is hard to do (just about as hard to stay lucid in a dream, from what I hear). So don't get too discouraged.

      Good Luck!

I'm glad my post could have been of assistance.

Yes, that experience was long ago (like 2-3 weeks). Anyways I listen to Meditation 2 (deep). I tried it about a week ago, and I experienced something kind of like you did.

I saw images floating behind my eye lids. They were closed but it seemed like I could see through them. I saw pictures of old men with beards that looked very wise. They were orange (so were my eyelids) but their shade of orange was a bit different for I could make out the images.

So have fun and keep experimenting like I do. I am going to buy the software soon so I can important some presets.

Some of the user-made presets seem incredible. You should read the comments of this one http://www.bwgen.com/presets/desc577.htm

How long did it take you to hear the sounds? It seems like the weird stuff won't happen to me unless I listen to it for an hour or more. Also, I figured out the presets will not do the job for you. You have to go along with it. Like on the meditation presets, meditate along with it. It helps get the maximum out of the effects.

So far I have not add too much sucess. I normally can recall 1-3 dreams a night and I write them down in my journal. They normally are not detailed. So far, I have not expeirenced any lucidity, sleep paralysis, or obes. I am trying though.

In one dream, I realized it was a dream and I got exited and woke up though. Also, if you are yourself in the dream, and you see anothe person that looks exactly like you, does it mean anything in particular?

Please keep me updated and whats going on. I like to keep an touch with other users experimenting with binaural beats, especially brainwave generator.

      Schumann Resonance

http://fusionanomaly.net/schumannresonance.html: A less apocalyptic jump-point for Schumann resonance info.

      http://quake.geo.berkeley.edu/ncedc/em.intro.html: An academic view.

Not to step on Piscesdreaming's toes. I just didn't feel that the info on the first link was very credible. It is still an interesting phenomenon.

Usually when I use it and meditate for say, twenty minutes or so and take my headphones off, there is a noticeable reverberation in my head which I believe is from the pulses affecting the sensory areas of the brain for sound. They continue for me a good couple of minutes after I take the phones off, all one needs to do is focus on the pulses and yes, the effects become greater.

      It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've checked this thread, so I haven't had a chance to respond to all the comments. Here goes:

To all: I haven't had time since my last post to work with the BWGen... mostly because I don't have the full version version program and therefore cannot download any of the good settings and/or load them onto my mp3 player. In the next few weeks, I will be coming into some money and hopefully this program will be one of my purchases.

RTCovenant: You asked how long it took to hear the weird sounds. For me, it actually took only about 15-20 minutes.

otto: No prob, you weren't stepping on my toes. Any info is helpful!

Kaniaz: Yeah, I kind of know what you mean by it being iritating. For me, the actual noise it makes is kind of scary..... so when the HIs begin ocurring, they are that much scarier..
