Who of you DID have an OBE?

      Hi to all!
I'd like to ask you if any of you did certainly have an OBE and how are you sure that it was a real OBE and not a dream.
Wich experiments have you done about this?
Does it feel similar or diferent to a Lucid Dream?
Did you feel fear during the experience?

      Best regards!

Supposedly we OBE all the time.

My first concious, yes has happened.

Apparently dreams are like an inner projection which is controllable like an LD according to some authors on the subject.

I project from 2 to 4 times weekly; I’ve spontaneously projected since I could remember from the age of 4. All of my experiences are like none other, each are different. I’ve gone over seas, to next door, I’ve also traveled through space many of times although many of times when I’m out in space I’ll make myself wake up, I don’t like the loneliness feeling it gives me. When I’ve projected it feels like your alive, very light weight, all your senses are 100 times better than they are in physical, when one comes in contact with other projectors or entities that are not of physical you will learn that you speak to everyone through telepathically, this comes very natural. Colors are very vivid, when you fly through the skies you can feel the coldness of the wind hitting your face it’s a wonderful feeling you feel so alive!

      More like a half-OBE

      (First post)

I'm not sure if this is a total OBE but it was the weirdest thing I've ever experiened.

A couple of years I was dreaming that I was falling down a short slope into a parking lot but something punctured my back before I hit the bottom. Once I reached the parking lot I backed myself up (breathing heavily) against a wall I couldn't see. Then everything went dark and it felt as if my soul was rising out of my body, starting from my head; however, once it got to my midsection it stopped as if the rest of my soul was stuck. I think Neo said it the best in the Matrix: Reloaded: "It felt like dying." But I didn't die. I fell slowly back down into my body and went on with a little bit more of the dream until I woke up. Yah, that was wierd...but cool.

Ok, but I still have my doubts about the difference between Lucid dreaming an OBE. OBES are supposed to be real experiences in wich the consciousness goes away of body and can percieve real things of the worls without need of the phisical body. For example, you can read something that is written in a book that you never read in real life. And, after that you can confirm what you 've read. For those who anwered `yes`to my question, and who even say that they can often proyect, I'd like to know what kind of experiments did you do in order to confirm that your experiences were real OBES.

      Best wishes!

I think i had one once. I was staying in a hotel. I don't remember which night it happend, but it was amazing. At first I was dreaming, don't remember what, but I was. I became lucid, and remember something I read in a book. When in a lucid dream, you can wake up your mind, while leaving your body asleep. I did that, but wrong. Instead I popped strait up. Except I could see myself! I was lying in my astral body on the bed, and my pysical body was sitting up. Everything was black and gray, but my body had a strang glowing outline to it. I did reality checks several times, never any sign of a dream. Then I suddently returned to my body. I wanted to experience astral projection (OOBE) again. I started the vibrations, and my arm started floating out. After that, I felt myself shoot out, then everything black out. I remeber this vivadly, anlike most dreams.

I once was on a trip with my boy scout troop and I thought I had fallen asleep, but I looked around and I could see and hear what my friends were doing and saying. At that point I woke up and told them to stop being stupid then did the same thing again till I got tired of it and went to bed. Was that an OBE?

I think it's pretty telling that no one here has addressed Ave's question of "how did you know it was an OBE and not a lucid dream?" As in my experience, most people you talk to who believe they've had OBEs simply assert that they "know" it was a real OBE and not an LD. They feel that their own feelings are enough proof, and objective evidence such as observing or reading something that they have no physical access to is unnecessary to them. Even if their OBEs are filled with completely fantastical creatures and places, they usually explain this away by saying they visited some other plane of reality. Even further, some just assert that reality looks different and behaves differently to those who are out of the body.

Personally I've had several OBE-like experiences, but small inconsistencies with reality have always betrayed to me the fact that it was really just a dream experience. I was very interested in OBEs as a teenager and would have liked nothing more than to find that they were real. But even after having several experiences nearly exactly like those described by Monroe and others, I cannot honestly conclude that I've ever really left my body.

Given that there is a high correlation between the symptoms that often accompany sleep paralysis (en route to a lucid dream) and the symptoms that supposedly accompany the start of an OBE, I find it surprising that so many people insist that these are two distinct experiences. I am not here to tell other people what to believe, of course, but personally I think that if there is a simpler explanation for something, it must be taken until some evidence shows otherwise. And I have yet to see enough convincing evidence that OBEs actually take place outside the body...and believe me, I have looked at this with an open mind.

I never even adressed your question.
I have had many lucid dreams. I have had only three OBE's. All I can say is that they seemed intirely differant to me. I could not tell you if it was spawned from some aspect of lucidity. But like I said, there were not too many similarities.

When I felt out of my body I never astral projected or traveled by any means, physical or physcological. I just felt mentally seperated from my physical body. Like two seperate entities. While lucid my awareness of my physical senses become heightened.
