    Inside the Mind of Mattlantis

So, you want a glimpse into my sleeping mind? Be careful, it can get pretty dark in there~

    1. Sejuani and Falling

I am writing this late at night, but I actually took some notes this morning so I can remember this dream fairly well. The ending made me wake up really early so I took notes then went back to sleep, but we'll get there.

The first part of this dream I remember was being in a jungle area with a lot of wooden fortifications, tree forts, and things of that nature, inhabited by gnolls and some other creatures from World of Warcraft. I was some rogue-type character, and I somehow "knew" that I was level 1 and I knew my way around the area because I had "done it before," presumably as another character. This seems to occur a lot in dreams, and I should probably start looking for it as a dream sign, but that's a little tricky due to the disconnected feeling associated with playing a video game, which is what most of my dreams feel like.

Anyway, there were these relic type objects scattered throughout some of the forts, and if you destroyed a few of the ones in a certain area, you could gain a new base, more money, or other rewards. So I was climbing around stealthily and assassinating a lot of the gnolls as well as destroying the relics.

After doing this for a while, I moved to another area which was a huge frozen mountain area and the dream took on a new feel. I was now a part of a 5v5 battle in this area, a la League of Legends. I was Sejuani, which is odd because I never play her. After a small teamfight on top of a small plateau, I chased down another character who had escaped with little help. I can't remember for the life of me who it was I was chasing. It may have been Katarina, because I vaguely remember that it was a female with red hair.

After giving up on the chase I explored a bit, still Sejuani. There were several wild white wolves in a rocky area and I just stampeded past them, turning to strike them a few times to get them off of my tail.

I eventually came to a sheer cliff with a wall on the left side, and the wall and floor had many wooden "supports" sticking out. There was something valuable on the other side but the cliff was extremely windy, threatening to blow anyone who tried to cross off of the edge. I dismounted whatever Sejuani's mount is and suddenly became myself again. I skittered along the edge of the wall, holding onto the supports, and managed to get to the other side very easily. I recovered the treasure and began to make my way back, but suddenly the wind picked up even more. It pushed me back towards the cliff and I almost fell, but managed to grab onto a wooden pole at the last moment. I tried pulling myself up with it, but it ripped out of the ground and flew behind me. Now crawling, I was avoiding enough of the wind to get back to the wall. However, the wind was so intense that it kept ripping out the supports as I tried to hold onto them, and I nearly fell several times. During this time, I was "talking" to someone who wasn't there, and they made some comment about the reason the surface was so slick was because it was "good rust" and "bad wood," which struck me as very odd. I was about halfway back when it finally threw me off of the edge and I fell while laying on my back. I heard someone else talking about this bottomless cliff going on for eternity and getting infinitely colder as you fell, so I braced myself for the death I was sure would come and I felt the air growing colder quickly. However, it only really affected my ears for some reason, and they still didn't really feel all that cold. I could see blurry trees begin to move up into my field of vision, and I quickly realized that I was going to hit the ground and not freeze. My last thoughts were "Goodbye world," and then as I thought of my loved ones, "I'm sorry." Rather clichéd and deep for a dream death. When I hit the ground, everything went black and my back felt warm and dull, almost cramped feeling. And then suddenly my eyes opened and I was laying in my bed, hot under my blankets and sweating a bit.

It was two hours before my alarm was set, so I took notes and went back to sleep. Sadly, I don't recall any further dreams.

    2. I Am Gyorco!

Hello again. Going to try getting back into lucid dreaming AGAIN because I'm sick of having so few, badly remembered, non-lucid dreams. I'm a freshman in college now, but without further ado, here's my last dream.

As with many of my dreams, this was heavily influenced by video games. This one was similar to Blue Dragon, a turn-based rpg, although with much more customizable skillsets and characters. I was there, although I looked a bit like Shu from Blue Dragon, and the other characters were Alisa from Gods Eater Burst, a darker skinned guy who was rather quiet and came from a bad background (I think he used to be a bad guy and we recruited him), and some other girl. I vaguely remember being in an underground city similar to Undercity from World of Warcraft and exploring the sewers and tunnels and things. In the dream, you could learn multiple shadows (this probably won't make much sense if you don't know Blue Dragon) and assign each one different skill and traits. I had one dragon that I set to be a damage dealer with some tanking capabilities who attacked at a medium speed. You could set whether you wanted a character to attack quickly, resulting in 3+ strikes in one turn, medium, resulting in 2-3, or slow, resulting in one powerful strike each turn. You could learn new shadows by finding spheres in certain areas, and at one point, the dark-skinned guy and I found two so we each took one. I got a dragon that looked bulkier and older, and he got a strange looking minotaur. I decided to assign this dragon to be a heavy hitter, so I set it to slow and started speccing it to hit heavily but with no tanking abilities. Unlike Blue Dragon, we were not dependent on our shadows for every attack, and we actually used weapons. Different types of weapons could only be used with certain attack speeds, and at one point I found 3 clubs with great stats so I ended up switching everyone to slow except the fourth girl, who remained fast because she had a dagger. I assume the shadows were reserved for special attacks and magic.

At some point I ran into a "friendly monster" named Gyorco who would trade me random monster parts for rare items. He was tall with long limbs, slightly resembling a troll. We found him several times as we were exploring this large plains area, killing things for experience. Then later, we found another "friendly monster" who looked similar to Gyorco, however, this one was rather timid and seemed as if it had just recently mastered the art of speech. It didn't really seem to understand most of what we said to it, and it spoke in short exclamations like "Kill?" and "Scary!" A menu of my possible speech options popped up on the left in typical video-game fashion, and after trying Talk, Shop, and Approach (none of which had any real results), I tried the option that seemed like a joke: "I AM GYORCO, MASTER MERCHANT!" Surprisingly, it worked, and the monster warmed up to us and ended up trading with us.
