yeah nomad at first this was just me saying my journal was over that way if anybody wondered why i don't post any more they would know. it wouldn't make much sense to post my farewell and reason for it in the meta forum. do you think i should re-word it into a little discussion piece on whether or not stars are a good thing and post it in the meta?

Absolutely. Regular thread rating is good, but not for DJ's, because it doesn't make sense to tell someone anonymously their dreams suck. It's actually pretty ridiculous.

I do agree with your idea of not having a rating system for dream journals.

However this should be posted in the Meta-Forum instead.

oh i know, don't worry, like i said it's not a me being sad thing. i just think there shouldn't be a star system. i'm fine with no comments. that was nothing really, i just wrote that i was thinking "aw no comments." and then realized this was silly. it seems to be not very nice to rate people's dreams. like if someone posts a dream fragment that's really boring and short it will get one star which is the same as saying "your dream sucks!" but they can't help it. it was a dream and there's nothing they can do about it. like i said, if this was a place where people shared short stories it would make sense to be like "i like your story, well put together, etc." or "your story was boring." this is because the person who wrote it had control over every aspect and criticism will let them know what to do better next time or, if people hate their stories forever that maybe they should look into some other skill to practice. but telling someone that you don't like something that was involuntary is like saying "i don't like the way you breathe!" or "the way you blink is low quality!" it can't be helped or changed. even lucid dreams only have so much control. in the end i really just realized that dreaming (lucid or not) is an internal activity and so there's really no reason to do anything but record them and use them to look for dream signs and other exercises. sharing i think can be fun but not if it welcomes a system to insult or praise what you share. i didn't feel this way before the star system. with it people will passively insult each others dreams. before it, i don't think many people were leaving comments like "this dream is low on the scale of coolness.". as far as i noticed, if people left comments it was generally to say what they liked about the dream. if you were telling someone a dream in person they wouldn't be likely to be like "oooh, one star man, no good!" they will either say they like it or just vaguely feign interest because they wouldn't want to hurt your feelings. even on here, like i said, people won't post negative things about a dream, they only rate it negatively because they know it's anonymous. it's turned it into a competition type thing "who has the coolest journal? who has the most five star dreams?". when a journal really is a personal thing that's not supposed to be a creation to be cherished or condemned by others. at any rate i truly did decide that my paper journal is the most important anyway. not to mention i've only written down a few dreams on here while i filled up two paper journals so it was never that important to me anyway. i was just sharing my distaste for the star system. thanx for the concern though i agree with what you're saying, if people don't comment that's fine. i just don't want to hear that people specifically didn't like my dreams. if you don't have anything nice to say...

OK. Here comes your first comment:

Dude, this is not the way you do stuff. There are tons and tons of dream out here. It's hard to even get loyal readers. I am sure I have some and for sure you have as well. I posted 238 dreams and I got around 7-8 comments. Do I feel pissed? Nope. I have many many many dream fragments, boring dreams about jobs, do I care? Well, I do not care posting them, I only care because I could have had a better dream, that is all. However, when I have an epic dream, lucid or epic lucid I am very excited about sharing it here. By the way, this is something very important for MILD...

Read my entire journal, I am sure you will only love 10-15 dreams out of the +200 I have in there. You will get bored as hell with most of them. Do I care? Well, I know I have some readers and I hate the fact I can bore them, but well, they are dreams, they are what my mind did and it's worth enough to post them.
You need to be more positive dude and I will point that in the classes. Instead of focusing on low rating or crappy dreams, focus on having a lucid (whatever you like) and focus on how you will feel after sharing here. You will get more reads than you imagine. A lot of people reads only lucids, for their own improvement, so they will read yours. I have an average of 1-3 readers per dream, my lucids go up to 9-10, and my epics (3) some got over 25 reads... they come from nowhere and that its a reality for all journalists.

Well, again, I feel sorry about this and it's only you who has the final decision, but this is not the right way!!!

      Just my two cents.
