    1. Trick or Treat

      by , 11-21-2013 at 10:13 PM
I don't remember the first dream I had, although I think it had something to do with my mother. I know I was talking in my sleep again, because I said something and heard/felt myself speak out loud (but still didn't realize it was a dream or wake up).

      I recall the second:
I wanted to go Trick or Treating. My brother had gone Trick or Treating earlier in the evening, and he brought home a huge bag of candy, which he shared with me. I felt weird about doing it, though, since I'm 30, but I thought I could get away with it if I tried to look like a teenager. Unfortunately, it was almost 9 pm and all of the porch lights on the houses were off. There was some candy scattered on the ground outside some of the houses, so I picked that up. There were also tiny plastic spiders all over the place. This had something to do with my friend R, but I'm not sure what.

    2. Zombies and Pine Trees

      by , 11-17-2013 at 09:41 AM
Original journal entry dated April 28th, 2002:

I woke up with blood under my fingernails, and all over my blankets for that matter. I don't remember any of my dreams but I guess I must have been having more nightmares. In any case, I tore my face up but good and was hoping that nobody would notice this morning, which they didn't, which is good.

The first dream was about a city. I think it was in England. It was old, and I was in the past, maybe Puritan times, I dunno. It was somewhere cold, rocky, and misty.
There was a plague in the village, and there was always a procession of corpses being carried to the graveyard. I suppose, then, that the plague was bad, but not so bad to the point where they couldn't bury all of the bodies.
And yet, everybody was dead. Maybe not DEAD dead, but dead inside. Except that one man murdered his wife, and then the Priest came and they took away the body... one more dead person, despite the cause, didn't matter... and then, either I died or my wife died, but I can't remember which. But there was a crazy, crazy old lady in one of the more dilapidated houses, and she wielded an axe... nobody went there, and maybe she died of plague, or maybe she DIDN'T die because nobody went there. But my wife died (I was male in the dream). Or maybe I did. And they said a few prayers, and everything was washed over with gray... there was an old stone building, it was haunted... come to think of it, the whole town was haunted... and all muddy... it was miserable.

And then the other dream. My brother and mother and I were living in bare shacks high up on stilts, in the mountains. It was snowy and windy and very cold. They had wooden planks for floors, and the wind whistled through the chinks. When I looked out, I could see the tops of pine trees.
    3. Vivid but Fragmented

      by , 01-09-2009 at 05:18 AM
I had another dream last night that I know was very vivid, unfortunately I can't remember any of it beyond the fact that there was some sort of house, and my mother and brother were involved. It's noteworthy that although I think the house may have been run-down, it wasn't haunted or scary. I also have fragmented impressions of lots of greenery (lots of plants and trees, perhaps in a greenhouse) and maybe a short man in a suit. I know that I didn't want to wake up this morning because there was something in the dream I needed to resolve. Also, something about traveling along a highway in a car, and the highway may have been near the sea.

More fragments may come back, sometimes fragments of dreams I've 'forgotten' have resurfaced after a while.
    4. Marathon Dream

      by , 06-15-2008 at 02:55 AM
(original dream occurred June 14, 2008):
I had a dream that my apartment got hit by a hurricane. It rained so hard that you couldn't hear anything, except in the dream, it rained so hard that everything was completely silent. For some reason, peoples' voices were as clear as bells. I couldn't see more than 2 feet in front of myself. My mother and her boyfriend had gone outside to look at the rain, as it was raining pretty hard - the sudden increase in the intensity of the downpour sent us scrambling inside. In the dream, the area must have flooded, because I remember there being a large lake where there hadn't been one, and people perched atop the hills on the golf courses.

(original post titled June 16, 2008):
I had a very, very long dream.

First, I slept for around... probably 14 hours. It wasn't laziness, I simply didn't wake up.

I dreamt that I was a student at some sort of academy, like a wizard academy, but not like Harry Potter in the slightest. This was in a fantasy-type city - first off, think elven architecture. Very elaborate architecture, mostly stone and some sort of golden stuff. Most of it was devoted to the campus of this academy, and the pursuit of wizardry in general.

There were a bunch of other children there - I recall I was a child, just an older child. My brother was also at this academy, if my vague recollection is right. There was a stone ogre/troll in one of the more open areas, except that it was also roofed and fenced... in any case, all of the children who were up to mischief got together, including me, and poured some sort of oil in its ear, which brought it to life. It came to life and wreaked all sorts of havok until it was finally gotten under control. One of the head wizards (of the city) called me in, and told me I'd been the cause of a similar incident involving the same monster before. I remembered it, vaguely, and he showed me a document I'd signed.

The eldest mage commented something along the lines of, although I had learned no magic I had a strong blood-line, and I ought to marry a dragon. I knew the dragon in question, a coppery, gold-colored dragon. Unfortunately, I don't think that giant lizards are very sexy. That was pretty damn weird, although I have to admit that wizards are usually pretty damn weird.

In any case, as the dream progressed, I became the mastermind of some sort of coup of the city. There were rulers, a king and a queen, but their essence was contained in 5 spheres in the heart of the city, that were closely guarded. In the center of the city was a massive lake that was incredibly deep. Anyway, 3 of the spheres were King, Queen, and some sort of snow-man. I don't know what the remaining 2 were. The city's defenses were impenetrable as long as the spheres of the King and Queen remained in place, but I got ahold of all 5 spheres, and I threw them in the lake. The Snow-Man was some sort of guardian of the city, I don't know, but at one point I retrieved him out of the lake. I think the fourth sphere was that of the Master of Ceremonies - in order to actually take control of the city, I had to be sworn in as king. I needed the Snow-Man at my disposal in order to convince him to swear me in.

After this, the dream got more jumbled. I also woke up briefly, although I don't remember much, and I know that I felt really sleepy so I went back to bed.

After this, I had a dream about Cinderella, but not in the sense that we think of her, as this had absolutely nothing to do with the original story. Rather, it was about cinders. Something about a young man, and the girl in question was under some sort of death-spell, and he got a chance to save her by drinking cinders in some sort of potion. But rather than saving her, he wandered off into some sort of dream-land, and failed in his mission. Ever since that point he had been a very morose spirit.

In the dream, there were 5 men who governed various Aspects of something - I don't remember what the thing was. In the dream, it presented itself as a web-page, but I know that it wasn't a web-page, that was just the manner in which I browsed it. It was like a collection of information, and you accessed it through these personalities, and he was one of them. He had a long face and ash-grey hair. Each man had an Aspect, one had the Aspect of Strength, but his was the Aspect of Death (or something like that) due to his history. I was considering switching from the guy governing the Aspect of Strength to this man and his Aspect, because of some information that I needed to browse, but I was reluctant.

I woke up after this. I felt better/not as sleepy, although the dreams were very weird, but I had slept for a disturbingly long time. Usually that happens when I dream actively, and I felt like I'd been dreaming almost the whole time that I was asleep. I think these dreams were influenced by the fact that I've been playing too much D&D. Maybe I should ease off on RPGs for a while.
    5. Old Dream: Electrical Storm

      by , 01-21-2008 at 03:29 AM
Original dream dates to around January 20th 2008, not sure on the exact date:

I dreamt that my friend T___ and his brother (I have not seen T since he joined the army) and I were having an argument. It involved power (as in, electricity) or something, and various power cells (I guess areas that were powered by a connection at a particular point) or something like that. We were arguing about how we needed to cut power/there needed to be some sort of lock down, it was critical that the power was cut for some reason, but I was arguing that if we did that we would be without power ourselves. T was communicating with his brother via radio or telephone and pretty much following his advice. He offered a very convincing reason for why we ought to go with the original plan, so I finally went along with it.
I looked out the window - we were either high up or in some sort of special building, and it was a very large window with a good view of the city and possibly a bay from what I remember - and there was a beam of light shooting up into the sky.

Then, somehow, we were running or traveling through somewhere, very fast, on some sort of jeep, and my brother was with us as well... I don't know if someone was following us, or we were in a hurry, or what was going on, although I knew that it was important to get the hell across the river. T said we were going to have to pretty much drive into the river and try to coast at least half way across, and we could swim the rest, but as long as we got that far we'd be ok. He warned us that as it sank, the jeep was probably going to roll, and that we needed to try to get out of it as quickly as possible before we turned upside down because it was very easy to get disoriented and drown as a result.

We managed to coast maybe 1/3 of the way across before the jeep started sinking, listing as it did so, and as we were warned it started to roll, so we scrambled to get the doors open. In the confusion, I didn't manage to see if my brother had also escaped, and when I surfaced and didn't see him I panicked because I thought that he hadn't gotten out in time. He broke the surface, though - it turned out that he'd gotten tangled up in a strap but still managed to get out of the door before the water pressure got too great. After that, we all started swimming for the opposite shore.
