My first entry! Lucid dream and Task of the Month.

    First DV DJ Entry.

    LD result of MILD.

I was in some house I don't recognize. Visiting some friends, but I don't remember who. It was night time, I was supposed to be sleeping. I had my own pretty big room, and I was lying on top of the covers watching TV. It was the government channel, but it was playing a strange montage of trippy cartoons, disneylike. I wanted to make a snapchat of it. But decided to enjoy this strange moment instead. This lead me to want to do a reality check (the value of all day awareness)

First RC(nose breathing) was a bit unclear. It worked, but I wasn't convinced. Tried again, and it worked a bit, but a bit on and off, not completely. Decided to do a telekinesis test. Pulled a book towards me from the floor.

I headed outside. It was dark and my vision soon faded into complete darkness. While waiting for my vision to return I decided that I should stabilize once back in the dreamworld.

Upon my return I touched the ground and some trees and immersed myself a bit. I have been a bit into the idea of stablisation being an unnessesary crutch lately. Maybe the better option is to stop believing that LD's are supposed to make you wake up.

I wanted it to be light, maybe to get "farther away" from the void. I grabbed a star and spread my fingers like you would when zooming on a touch screen. It became the sun. I suddenly realized that I had done both advanced tasks without really intending to.

I headed down a gravel road next to a fence. There were trees, and the wind smelled like the ocean. But I couldn't recognize the place. I felt warm, so I threw my jacket on the ground and ordered it to disintegrate. (NO LITTERING IN THE DREAMWORLD!)Though I was at a relatively high level of lucidity the dream felt a bit off... I wanted a place to sit down and increase lucidity for a while. I ended up sitting in the middle of the road waiting to see what my dream would conjure up. My mind wandered to the whole, stabilization dilemma. And I woke up. My alarm would be going off in 5 minutes so I got out of bed.

      NO LITTERING IN THE DREAMWORLD!
Haha, I love to litter in the dreamworld! Because I would never litter in the real world, it feels so taboo and liberating to irresponsibly toss things away.

Great call. I think sometimes we get so attached to our schemas, it's easy to forget that they're ultimately very malleable.

Not an easy schema to let go of though... Especially when in lower lucidity. But it seems like an obvious next step. 7/10 times I wake up it's shortly after worrying about waking up. 2/10 are from exitement and 1/10 from noises in the real world.

How would you go about it?

Tough question! I've also observed and experienced that anxiety about waking up is the number one cause of waking up. Insofar as stabilization techniques help prevent this, it is in large part because we believe they will help, but also I think they really do help distract us from the anxiety about waking. In-depth engagement with the dream environment, with as many senses as can be engaged, can become its own stabilization technique.

      Good points there.

I agree that with the last bit about sensational awareness being a key in the process. But then again, if not played right it's possible that it could become another hindrance/crutch. That relying on/believing in it too much would get you in trouble as soon as you forget to be aware of the sensory experience. Just speculations...(I feel like the more I think about this stuff, the more difficult it becomes to not expect to wake up... quite a dilemma)

Maybe the key is just awareness in general. To really be present in what you are doing, notice the minute changes that arise and learn to recognize the patterns that come before the dream becomes unstable. I have no idea. Maybe I should post a thread and hear what other people think and do.
