This wasn't a dream, well I don't think it was a dream—recently I've been doing reality checks by pausing in everyday activities to question my surroundings. I usually ask myself 'is this a dream?', then follow up by trying to run my right hand's index and middle finger through my left hand, and when my fingers don't phase through, I repeat in my head 'i am awake; i am not dreaming' a few times.

I would also like to mention that I only started doing reality checks a few days ago and that I've been working on dream recall because mine totally sucks haha

Okay so, I went to sleep as usual, but I woke up waaaay too early and something weird happened? I actually woke up startled by a flashing red light across my eyelids, then while still having that 'where am i? what was i doing?' feeling from just walking up, I instinctively did my reality check hand gesture. My drowsiness went away and for a moment I thought I was dreaming because of the reality check I was doing lol

Naturally, I don't remember dreaming about anything.

    Of course not

I think I might have started doing reality checks too early?

For Reality checks I wouldn't rely on the finger going through hand one. It's not very reliable at all, I want to lose that habit because I still do it in my dreams like yesterday I could've had a lucid dream but I did the finger going through hand reality check and it didn't go through despite the fact that I did it 3 times, it felt solid while I was still in the dream. So I decided I must've been in real life and lost the ounce of suspicion that could've led to lucidity. Out of my exprience the finger going through hand is a 50 out of 50 bet. I'd reccomend you learning the 5 finger trick by counting how many fingers you have as that helps a lot all the time. If it's a dream you can gurantee your fingers aren't the same as you remember them.

Forget what I stated, I had a lucid dream today however I did the hand one to see if I had 5 fingers but it showed me I had 5 fingers still. Though I found another way to confirm if I was dreaming. I guess it must not be too reliable only for me.
