    1. My Lucid Process - comments?

      by , 01-19-2011 at 10:21 PM
I had terrible recall last night - probably because I never reached the final stage of REM because I had to wake up early

So in the place of a remembered dream I thought I'd post some reflections on the way I have been going about lucid dreaming for the past 2 weeks

      Day:

Throughout the day I do reality checks in time with an alarm that rings every so often on my phone. That way I have an outward stimuli that could introduce the reality check in the dream state and I won't have to totally rely on recognition. I preform four reality checks (Looking at hands, squeeze my nose and try to breathe, look around for inconsistencies in my surroundings, and look at text/numbers twice to see if they change).

Additionally I look a dreamviews throughout the day and watch this lucid dreaming subliminal video: http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.c...nal-video.html

      Night:

Before I go to sleep I meditate while listening to binaural beats and repeat the manta "the next time I dream, I will do reality checks and realize that I am dreaming." While this happens I imagine past and possible dreams in which I do reality checks and become lucid. After this I listen to a hypnosis video involving lucid dreaming mainly to get myself tired enough to fall asleep. Then I try and fall asleep, thinking about nothing in particular.

Around four and a half hours later I wake up and stay up for 40-60 minutes going on DV to post my latest dream or just reading about lucid dreaming. Then I try and fall back to sleep the same way I normally do

      Problems:

      1) I have a lot of trouble with going to sleep, it has gotten better with a better understanding of how I fall asleep but some nights I lie awake in bed and am unable to sleep until after an hour. And I have yet to sucessfully fall asleep after waking myself up at 4:30

      2) Only two lucid dreams, and I've been at this for 3 weeks

      Revisions/Additions:

      1) Place less focus on the suggestion (meditation) portion of the night and focus most of my auto suggestion as I am falling asleep
      2) Only wake up for 20 mins during my WBTB + MILD

      Dealing with no sleep:

      3) Don't drink too much water before bed
      4) Exercise more during the day (This week is finals so I have been cooped up)
      5) Instead of going on DV during the WBTB read a book on lucidity (easier transition to sleep)

Comments are definitely encouraged as I am super new at this
