    The Nightflare Chronicles..

Just my dream journal- Judging by some of the dreams I tend to have, reading through this in a months time will make me question my sanity more than usual. This should help improve my dream recall, and in the distant future I may even experience lucidity.
Being lucid while awake would be a good start, though.

Why am I even posting again...
Right, well, 9 days since my last entry, and my journal has, during that time, gained nothing but some random doodles. No dreams, no fragments, not even a few keywords. I suspect it's because I'm not really in a good state, psychologically, right now, but even so, I can't see how that would effect dreaming or recollection. I'm going to try B6 supplements starting from monday, and see how those work. I'm also going to go back to my usual irregular sleep pattern- I've been forcing myself to go to bed at a set time- 11pm. Thing is, I very rarely feel tired at this point, and it doesn't seem to have helped my recall at all (indeed, it seemed to have got worse since I tried that. Correlation =/= causation, I know, but it's worth thinking about)

      Nothing.. NOTHING...
still posting just for the sake of regularity. And maybe if I make blog posts devoid of any content it'll vent my brain's nothingness and leave me with.. somthingness?

    3. Night 4 + 5: Almost nothing of value..

by , 08-08-2012 at 04:03 PM (The Nightflare Chronicles..)
Ok, so, REALLY bad recalls recently- I've got next to nothing. I can remember a few keywords but no specific events or details.

      ***NIGHT $ FRAGMENTS***
I'm cycling long distance; I enter an abandoned 'haunted' house with my sister (That's the odd bit; I don't actually have any siblings) and meet a bald man wandering around. We tell him to go into a cupboard and lock the door. He then goes crazy until we let him out
      ***END***

      ***NIGHT 5 FRAGMENTS***
I'm walking along a cliff with my father, and we meet a man carrying a branch with strawberries hanging from it. I then find myself at an ice-cream shop, and a girl is trying to barter there. She is offering an army of rhodok soldiers (I have apparently been playing Mount & Blade too much recently) for some ice-cream, but can't afford any; I tell her that's why rhodok is no good. I'm then walking up a mountain.
At some other point in the dream I'm in a furniture store with my cousin.
      ***END***

Dream recall, why do you vex me so?
    4. Night 3- They can take our lives... (fragment)

by , 08-06-2012 at 11:07 AM (The Nightflare Chronicles..)
another one that I initially remembered a lot of, but didn't have time to lie there and hold on to it after waking, so most of it was gone before I could write it down

      *****FRAGMENT*****
So, I'm apparently someone fairly high up in an army, and the commander is William Wallace. He tells me to collect some plants from my back garden, because he wants to make something he calls 'wolf-gas'. We then find ourselves on a large field- our army is there, but I couldn't see the enemy. Wallace then gives a speech- similar to the Braveheart one, but not exactly. As far as I can remember it was along the lines of the enemy being just like us, and just as scared as we were.

      -There's then a large chunk that I can't remember-

I'm on a hill with William, and there's a farm nearby with smoke rising from it. He tells me to be careful, because it's wolf gas, and we then run in to rescue the people inside (the wolf gas seems to have a similar effect to mustard gas). I'm then walking around after the battle, and I see a man dressed as a clown fighting with someone over loot. I turn a revolver on him and tell him that neither of them have the rights to loot.

      *****END*****

So, yeah, disappointing recall, but that was more of an external issue- I woke up because my father was shouting up and needed to speak to me, so I had no time to remember much or write anything down. There was certainly more of it, but it's too faint.
    5. Night 2- We alone are fighting for metal that is true (fragments)

by , 08-05-2012 at 11:04 AM (The Nightflare Chronicles..)
lots of fragments and, apparently, an allegory for the eternal conflict between metal and dubstep/rap/hippetyhop, and all that crap. (I'm accepting of other people's music tastes, but my subconscious, it would seem, isn't.)

      ***FRAGMENT***
I'm on a rollercoaster, which is initially very tame, and a woman sitting next to me complains that it isn't very exciting. It then speeds up a bit and gets a bit bumpy- hse says that it's a bit better, but not really what she came here for. It then goes extremely fast up a completely vertical incline, before going upside-down, corkscrewing, and generally being the most intense rollercoaster ever. The woman screams and shouts that she didn't want THAT much excitement.

      ***END***

      ***FRAGMENT***

I'm riding in a train, and it suddenly stops. Looking out, I can see that there is a fallen tree on the track ahead of us. I get out to help the driver move it, but it's extremely light, and the driver just throws it aside.

      ***END***

      *****MAIN DREAM*****

I'm in a classroom with about 9 or 10 other people. The teacher is playing metal while he teaches- I recognised the band as epica, but recognised none of the songs. A different teacher walks in, complains, and forces us to listen to dubstep and rap. Our teacher shouts for a bit, and punches the dubstep teacher.
He then gets taken to court, and the class is there as his defence. Things get a bit heated, and the judge tells our teacher to watch his language, but rules that all charges should be dropped because the metal teacher was defending real music from the tyranny of rap.

We're then back in the classroom, but the metal teacher isn't there. The dubstep teacher walks in and goes crazy, screaming about "bloodstained t-shirts". He claws at people, and starts trying to rip a girl's blazer off, before the rest of the class, including myself, drag him off, beat him senseless, and bundled him out of the window, where he promptly disappeared. Our teacher then enters, telling us to enjoy our holidays, stay safe, and be wary, for the enemies of metal are everywhere.

      *****END*****

Now, I know for a fact that there's a lot more to this dream- and I think the train fragment and the main dream are part of the same dream- but I can't remember anything else clearly enough to mention. I know that some of us stayed on after the class, as there was some extra-curricular project to do over the holiday, and we went out somewhere. There was an email involved at some point. Unfortunately that's all I have, but there was definitely quite a long story being played out.

Also, it's odd that for two nights running my dreams have included something school-related, given that I finished school almost 4 years ago. The first night only included some people I knew from highschool, and this dream included a school as a central theme, but no-one I recognised. Co-incidence or dreamsign?

    6. Night 1- My dreams have lag

by , 08-04-2012 at 02:41 PM (The Nightflare Chronicles..)
Right, so, my first entry- something wierd happened towards the end, but I'll come to that in a minute.

      *****DREAM STARTS*****
I've walking across a flat desert with some old classmates from highschool, who I haven't seen for about 4 years. On the horizon we can see buildings- They're clearly very far away, but they still appear towering and huge, and look faintly futuristic. As we draw closer, I see that there is a power plant, and what appears to be a launch tower for some kind of space shuttle.
When we arrive, we're greeted by a very tall man, who takes us on a guided tour of the power plant. At one point, he picks the 3 of us up and sprints down a spiral staircase very fast, making us dizzy, and then puts us down and disappears. We're in a sealed room, and the staircase is gone. As far as I can remember, the walls were made of metal. I phone the tour guide, and explain that we're trapped, and he says that my friends and i will have to find some way of passing the time.
A door then opens up in the wall, and I walk out of it. I'm taken to the edge of a forest, and told that I have to do a 25 mile run through it. I protest that I wouldn't be able to manage even 1 mile, and they just tell me to follow the path.

When the race begins, I start running, but about 5 minutes in I get to a long stretch of path, with leaves littering the floor. It looks similar to THIS photograph. As I'm running along it, my vision seems to stretch, as if my FOV suddenly increased dramatically, everything seemed to stutter for a bit, and I was snapped back to the start again. Put simply, I'm having major connection issues (maybe I should turn my firewall off? )
This happens every time I reach that point.

      ***PAUSE***

Ok, this is the weird bit- I'm not entirely sure what happened here- was I in a partial DILD or what? Basically, after this point, I was aware that I was dreaming and started thinking of nothing but dream control. It still felt fragmented and dreamlike- it didn't match any of the descriptions of lucid dreams I've read, but at the same time, I WAS briefly aware that I was in a dream....

      ***RESUME***
the third time this happened, I realised that I was dreaming- I tried to grab on to the landscape, and kept telling myself that I'm dreaming. Everything then went completely dark- I had no body- and a sort of control panel appeared on my vision- like some kind of GUI. Bear in mind, at the time, as soon as I'd realized I'm in a dream, I had an urge to control EVERYTHING. It had a load of sliders for things like characters, landscapes, etc, and when I moved them things appeared in my dream. I used my usual approach of pressing things randomly until something works, and I managed to get two people running around in a room, but the 'graphics' were blocky and I was viewing everything from above. I then woke up, and tried to perform a reality check, but it was either a false awakening or I fell asleep again immediately, because I then woke up again. That time I was definitely fully awake and conscious, unfortunately

Another thing to note, is that just as I was waking up the first time, I could hear someone talking about driving trains, and how he has to wear a different jacket to drive different trains (I don't even know anymore.. my mind is clearly a very strange place)

      *****DREAM ENDS*****

Right, so a few thoughts on this- firstly, I had the feeling that I was almost in a lucid dream at one stage, but it didn't actually feel lucid- Any thoughts or comments on that? Is that something anybody's experienced? Does it mean I'm on the right track or not?

And the other thing is that I've clearly been spending too much time on the computer recently- lagging dreams, FOV and a GUI? Yeah, not normal

I've tagged this as non-lucid, since I'm fairly sure I wasn't actually in a lucid dream, but I'm still confused about that.
