    1. Dad and a Giant Spider

      by , 10-28-2014 at 12:05 AM
Well, this marks my return to Dream Views! Hopefully, after this week, I'll be back to posting all my dreams and actually trying to lucid dream!

I dreamed that I was back at my parents' house for a visit, and my dad was there. It seemed that I knew he was or had been dead, and he obviously knew he'd been absent for a long while.
He was walking through the downstairs of the house, trying out all the lights as though to make sure mom and I hadn't broken them in his absence. I followed him for a time, reassuring him that everything worked and that he'd left things in good hands.

Eventually, I left him to it and went to check out some boxes of my belongings that I must have left there when I moved out. While rummaging through these boxes, I spotted what seemed to be a massive toy spider. I was about to pull it out when I noticed that it was moving, and realised that it was real and very much alive! This spider had a red back and was easily 9 or 10 inches long, leg-span included. Now, I like spiders - I rescue them from the house and from work, and generally leave them alone if no one else has spotted them - but this monstrosity was not something I could cope it. I cried out for my mom to come and help (she's got no fear at all!), but she was obviously busy. I think I put the box down to go and convince her that whatever she was doing, this was more important, but before I could leave, the spider made it out of the box and scuttled off.
Finally, far too late, mom arrived on the scene. I explained, and we spent a few minutes poking around and trying to find/catch the beast.

      Then I woke up.
    2. Camping without Dad

      by , 10-22-2013 at 02:41 PM
I dreamed that I went camping with my mom. We gathered all the gear and were setting up the tent together. I remember thinking that everything would be a little different without my Dad there. Setting the tent up wasn't as easy, and the bedroom spaces seemed larger without him. It's the first time in a dream that I've really acknowledged that my dad is gone. It was in the back of my dream-self's mind that it was our first time camping without him.
In all the other dreams I've had so far, he was either alive or, at worst, dead but present.

    3. Swimming and terminator!

      by , 10-22-2013 at 02:36 PM
I dreamed that I took my nephew and niece swimming at our local swimming pool. When we arrived at the pool, I realised that I'd spent so long making sure that they had their gear, I'd forgotten my own costume. The lady at the pool suggested that I buy another, but they were all really expensive! My nephew and niece wanted to get on and get swimming, and I remember suggesting that they started without me, and I'd catch up once I had gone home and retrieved my costume (if I could remember where it was!).
I also remember feeling that I ought to be a grown up about it, and just sit at the side and watch, but I felt very childish and didn't want to do!

The other dream i had, I literally remember only that I was being chased by a terminator robot. He didn't look like the movie robot, but I knew it was a terminator.
    4. Shot up with drugs

      by , 09-28-2013 at 10:27 AM
Always a fun thing, to be attacked (even in your dreams) in your bedroom. I was kneeling, for some reason, on my bed towards my dresser. It's not unlikely, I have a habit of doing that if I'm looking for something there or setting my phone/other gadgets to charge.

Someone came from behind, totally silently, and injected me in the neck. When I turned, there was no one there. My boyfriend came in soon after and I told him (though I don't know how my dreamself knew) that I'd been dosed with heroin.

Now, not knowing what heroin actually does to a person, my mind got creative and decided it would make time do strange things. One moment, I was in the bedroom still, talking to my partner. The next, I was in a shopping centre. I'd completely lost the time where I was travelling, but in my dream I knew that there should have been time. Then, as I was walking, everything started moving really quickly, leaving me standing still in a stream of relentless and rapidly moving people.

I slipped into a charity shop to be out of the flow and, without knowing what I was doing, started looking through the wares. They had second-hand mobile phones, and I looked at one that had an old style RPG game. I played it a little, but it seemed familiar. I finally figured out that my boyfriend had the same game (he doesn't, but... in the dream.).

When I woke, I felt a very strong urge to check with my partner to make sure he had that game, even though I knew he didn't.
    5. Dad and a model circus railway

      by , 09-28-2013 at 09:42 AM
Now, I really have to start noting my Dad as a reality check. Dead folks don't tend to appear in reality, so... Well, yeah...

We were in my parents' living room, as it used to be when my Dad was alive and healthy. (Come to think of it, it's probably the way it was when I was younger - the dresser was against the wall it used to be when I was a kid.)

Dad had bought a model set of a circus train, with the name of the circus brightly painted across the sides, and with open carriages for the animals. These models were incredibly detailed, but the carriages looked more like the carts you get at a fairground (like a waltzer) - Round, with a dip in one side that acts as the door (though how the elephant was supposed to get out of it, I couldn't tell you!) He was showing me the animals and how, if you turned them a different way, they sat in different poses.

    6. Forbidden paper, auditions and the bus ride of randomness!

      by , 09-11-2013 at 11:44 AM
I had three mixed dreams. The first was set in a very Merlin type world. A king, possible Utha (spelled right?), had forbidden paper in case it was used to plot against him.

The second, I was in an audition. We each had to sing a song, but I'd never heard it before. Everyone else seemed fine, but I was totally lost! I picked it up as I went along though. (When I woke up, I was actually able to hum the tune for a while. Interestingly, as far as I could think at the time, it wasn't any song I knew. Composing in my sleep??)

The third was a little longer. I was on a bus as a passenger, and the road we were trying to go along was closed because of these massive gas cylinders that were, for some reason, in the middle of the road. The bus driver ignored the signs and managed (barely) to scrape through.
He was told off by a police officier. Instead of sending him back the way he'd come, he was sent a different way. This driver was very impatient and rude, and drove through a small market place, nearly knocking over fruit stalls that lined the road.
He asked for directions from a fellow who seemed determined to be vague and unhelpful - he kept talking about going through warehouses and all sorts! The driver told me that he was tempted to sneak out the way we'd come in and hope the police guy didn't see.
For some reason, I got off the bus. Immediately, a storm kicked up around us and lightning struck nearby. I told the driver 'I think that's a sign that we shouldn't go back. I think.' More strikes followed, which ended in me being struck. The last thing I remember was lying on the floor with cartoon style crackling running across my body.
    7. Dad at the top of the stairs

      by , 09-05-2013 at 03:45 PM
I dreamed of my father. This is one of those dreams where you know - positively know - that there was a lot to it, but can only remember one stupid little detail. I remember dreaming of my dad. He was with me and my mom, and he was tired. We were at the top of a set of stairs, and he lay down right there, on the landing at the top, and went to sleep.

I think I dreamed of him because I wish I could talk to him. Whenever I was in trouble, or if I needed advice on something, dad was always the one I turned to. Lately, things at work have been tough, and his advice would have been of great use and a great comfort to me.

My partner pointed something else out to me. He said that perhaps I dreamed about him sleeping at the top of the stairs because, for the last few years of his life, he didn't sleep upstairs in his bed. He wasn't very well; he couldn't breathe very easily, and going upstairs made him too breathless and lying down was worse. So he slept downstairs in his chair, or at the kitchen table.

    8. Bicentennial Man

      by , 08-14-2013 at 09:45 AM
Finally! A dream I remember! Back to being someone else though...

I was the Bicentennial man (from that Robin Williams film), but I still lived and worked where I do in real life. In my dream, I was in a first aid course, in the conference room where I work. I was being amusing and everyone was laughing (I'm not generally the centre of attention - or even hugely outwardly spoken in reality, so that was quite strange). We had a test, and I flew through it with no problems (though, as the bicentennial man, I guess I shouldn't have had trouble!)
    9. Typical Spooky

      by , 06-29-2013 at 09:57 AM
All I remember about this was waking (or thinking I had woken) and looking over towards the bedroom door. There, floating and looking like your traditional spook, was a woman, dressed all in white and with a faint aura around her, vaguely lighting the room.

I remember that, even though it was creepy, I wasn't scared at all. It was more along the lines of 'Oh, what are you doing there?'
    10. Visiting Morgan - Feeling unwelcome

      by , 06-26-2013 at 03:31 PM
I had travelled to America to visit my friend Morgan. When I arrived, I found no one waiting to meet me. I only had very vague details about where exactly it was she lived. I didn’t have her phone number, so I didn’t see that I had any choice but to try and make my way for myself.
I headed out of the airport and wandered for a long time. I had the description of ‘it’s behind the cinema’, so I started asking people where the nearest cinema was, and looking around for myself.
Eventually, I asked a blonde haired teenage boy who told me that he could direct me. He led the way, but when I tried talking to him he didn’t respond at all.
Finally, he pointed me to a large building behind a cinema and disappeared. Forgetting all about him, I went to the building and headed inside cautiously. It seemed to be an almost university dormitory type living setup, with each person living there having a room which came off a corridor. I had trouble because, in my dream, I couldn’t remember what Morgan looked like! I finally found her and her partner and greeted them. (They didn’t look anything like they really do, but I knew it was them in my dream.)
They paid very little attention to me, carrying on with what they were doing. I found myself a spot to settle down in, and watched them. I didn’t feel welcome at all.
They went to bed super early in the afternoon, and left me in the same room as them to sit in silence. I noticed that my friend’s partner, Jen, was a very light sleeper. Even the slightest of noises disturbed her. I started to seek out anything that was making a noise, eradicating it where I could to help.
The window rattled, so I arranged for someone to repair it the following day. I went outside to see what I could do to fix it temporarily. Eventually, I pressed a clock against the glass in the window, stopping it from rattling in its frame.

((Bonus points for this once since I was, again, myself! Woo! No lucidity yet, but at least I’m myself…!)
    11. Milk - Fragment

      by , 06-21-2013 at 02:20 PM
The only thing I really remember about this dream is putting away milk after shopping in my dream. I put a bottle of milk into the fridge, on its own in the door, then turned away to pick something else up. When I looked back, the milk bottle I'd put in the fridge had been opened and some of the milk was gone, and next to it was the previous week's milk, almost empty.

Random and... gotta admit, kinda boring for a dream!!
    12. Merlin and work-bags-work yo-yo

      by , 06-17-2013 at 10:36 PM
I remembered two dreams last night.

For the first, I have a very vague recollection of dreaming about being in the Merlin universe. That's literally all I remember of that dream.

      My other was as follows:
I was myself in the dream, which is fairly rare for me - normally, I'm someone else or, even if I can't see who I am, I get the sensation that it wasn't 'me'.

I left my house to walk to the bus stop (it's about a five or six minute walk down the road). I went of my house carrying my work bags, and headed off. A couple of minutes later, I realised I was missing my bags! Assuming I must have somehow put them down part way along, I turned around to find them. Though I was trying to walk back towards my house, I kept forgetting what I was doing and turning around to carry on to work. Then I'd remember and turn back again to look for my bags!
I repeated this a few times, walking part way down the street before turning, walking along again towards the bus stop and then heading back towards the house in search of my bags.
The street I was walking down wasn't my own real street, though it was to my dream self. There were a lot of people walking around me, going in both directions. It's usually quiet in the morning when I'm walking, but in the dream it was busy. I only really remember one of the people; a little girl who I kept passing as I went back and forth. I don't remember much about her, but she felt significant. She was the only thing in the dream that I felt anything about. I knew I needed to go to work, and I knew I needed to get the bags, but neither seemed important. But I connected something to that girl, emotionally. Couldn't say what though.
    13. Overly public public bathroom

      by , 06-15-2013 at 12:42 PM
I was out somewhere with my mom; a day out or something like that. We had bought dinner – takeaway burgers in buns – and mom was carrying them in a bag with her.
We went to a public toilet; very public as it turned out! They were cubicles, but the walls around them were very low, barely coming to the level of the knees of whoever was on the toilet.
It was strange, but no one was fussing at all; they just took it as normal. Even mom and I didn’t think anything of it. (The real me would have freaked out instantly and refused to use them…!)
There was a huge queue while mom and I were in two of the cubicles, but everyone was friendly and cheerful, despite having to wait.
Before I ate, I had to have my insulin (I’m diabetic, and insulin comes before a meal). I politely warned the people around me to look away if they didn’t like needles. Most covered their eyes.
While all this was happening, mom and I were discussing what to do with the food. Mom warned me that the burgers were going cold. I suggested putting them in one of the Morrison’s (supermarket) bread roll bags (sizeable sealable plastic bags). She thought it was a good idea, but started to say ‘but…’, which turned into her choking as I woke up. My boyfriend coughing violently in his sleep woke me up; I think it was what turned my mom’s words into choking. (Do dreams work like that?? I mean, I hear a cough in waking life and it transposes into the dream?)
