    Am I Awake?

    The Thing on the Shelf

As I was drifting in and out of sleep last night, my mind mas transitioning between this world and the dream world. I had just recently rearranged the furniture in my room (as in, yesterday, and this was my first night sleeping in it this way), and I looked over on my shelf (I can't tell if this was just a full-on dream, or a waking dream experience) and on my shelf, there was a strange gray object with a crank and a spout up top.

I remember seeing it, and instantly thinking "Oh man, I don't own anything like that. I must be dreaming or something. I do remember laying down in bed..." but for some reason, I never decided to keep thinking based on that and achieve lucidity. All I remember is becoming terrified of that strange thing on the self.

So scared, in fact, that when my dog (who rarely sleeps with me, but was up on the bed with me tonight) sighed in his sleep, it scared me into waking up.

    Weird, for sure.

Could you move (apart from your eyes) when you were half dreaming half awake and afraid of that object?

Actually, when I first saw the object on the shelf, I was so afraid of it, that I closed my 'eyes' towards it, if you know what I mean. I mean, I don't remember physically shutting my eyes in order to avoiding looking at it, or just blacking my mind towards it to where I couldn't see it anymore, but I sure wasn't able to look at it too long.

Tada: presenting an MS Paint artists rendering of the object. As you can see, it's not exactly a terrifying looking thing, but I was pretty upset by it. Maybe just because it was unfamiliar.

I'm kinda freaked out by it myself actually
Oldest camera meets washing machine meets elephant or something..

Why I asked about the moving is that I also had some, what I thought were dreams, that I was in my room and laying in bed and just really scared of something or some presence,... And imagining stuff, and at the same time I couldn't move; I always thought it was a dream but apparently it's some condition that 1% of the people have, and what triggers it is supposed to be stress. It basically is that you're in between awake and asleep, your mind is kinda awake, your eyes too, but your body isn't, you can only make some kinda "the grude"-sound and you become very afraid of something. So maybe that's something you have as well Or maybe it was a dream.
