    1. Dec 10 Dream Journal: Rollover, Beethoven

      by , 12-10-2013 at 10:38 PM
I dreamed I got into a conflict with a very surly, very unreasonable man. The other guy was drunk, so my moral compass kept spinning between "diffuse the situation" and "diffuse the situation with FISTS TO HIS FACE!" I'm not sure how/when, but the other guy suddenly goes flying (I didn't punch him, I swear!), and it turns out the other guy is Beethoven. A drunk Beethoven. A drunk Beethoven who is now indignant and outraged. His bros goes to help him up, but he just shrugs them off (I think I'm in a frat bar, by the way. We are in modern settings, except Beethoven looks like he stepped out of a time machine and decided, "hey, pour me a brewsky!"). Sadly, I didn't get to see how this ends before waking up.
    2. Dec 9 Dream Journal: Train and trailer women

      by , 12-09-2013 at 07:30 PM
I'm in front of a pretty decent house in the suburbs with a slanted driveway and a manicured front yard. It's getting to be the evening or so, and as I'm walking down the street on the sidewalk, what looks like a middle-aged addict wants me to go with her. She's dressed in a style that would not be out of place in a trailer park summer BBQ. I don't recall her face, though, but I "know" it's the face of a casino-lounging smoker. I politely decline and keep walking.

After walking some more, I turn around and get a view of the street I just walked, and it is indeed a picturesque sub-urban neighborhood filled with relatively upscale houses and good looking yards -- suburbia hell, basically.

I see a younger, short, and slightly overweight blonde, just as "down home" style as the addict above. Again, can't see her face, but I "know" she has on way too much make-up. She asks me to marry her so she can have children, but asked in a way that's so sad that I think she's being forced. I politely decline, and tell her about adopting foster kids. She has never heard of this concept, and leaves very excited. She disappears into the back of the crowded train.

Yes, somehow, I'm on a pretty swank looking train now. People are dressed in formal-casual wear, except in a 20's style. It's well-lit, and way more spacious than a train. If not for Dream Knowledge that I'm on a train, I'd think I'm on a cruise ship or something. Oddly, all the vendors here use a point system to sell their things. Bottled water is worth something like 15-1600 points. Egg(s), though, costs a ridiculous 9999999 points on a big deli board menu in the middle of the train.

I spot C and Z, friends from high school i haven't seen since, in benches or pews on the train. I hop over some benches to go say hi, along the way seeing the younger woman again, only now she looks like Clara from Back to the Future III, complete with hair-color change. She seems happier. Don't know if she adopted her baby, though.
    3. Dec. 7, 8 Dream Journal: Tunnels and food?

      by , 12-09-2013 at 07:26 PM
      12.8:
I think I was exploring some sort of long-ago transit tunnel system. I think I'm treasure hunting for ancient technology, and I'm in a modern setting. I go exploring, and the tunnel slowly becomes more and more natural and cave like. I end up in an underground lake with natural lighting that shoots down in streaks.

      12.7:
I definitely remember eating things, but that's all I can remember.
    4. Dec 5, 6 Dream Journal: No details, thank you.

      by , 12-06-2013 at 10:43 PM
Wasn't able to recall the night before. There was a bit where I think I'm in spectator mode, and I'm looking at people eat in a diner setting. Eventually my brain says I'm at the diner from Nighthawks. Either way, crummy night's sleep then.

Last night, I dreamed seeing a busy, modern-day Japanese city. It's a lot like those fast-cut montages you'd see in the 80's, where you'd see stock scenes of "oh look, here's a lot of people!" "look, now it's a shot of buildings," "now we are showing you Mt. Fuji from afar!"

Anyways, the "last" cut was a bunch of signs on the side of buildings, and the one sign that's the focal point (though it was not nearly vivid enough to see) was for some sort of English-teaching business, only it was made for weeaboos, by weeaboos. Goddammit, SAF.

Another scene involved me untangling stuff? That's all I can remember.
    5. Dec 4. Dream Journal: Pirate Jesus, plus the secret to Eternal Life

      by , 12-04-2013 at 07:35 PM
I think I was Jesus again. If not, then some guy who can walk on water.

I start by walking through a crowd of people in a bazaar. They look like peasants and villagers out of a fantasy-themed video game, and I know a couple of them can be recruited to join my party if I have enough reputation. I'm also kind of shiny, and I have the sick and poor looking to me.

Eventually, I come across an intersection, but a train of pack beasts (cows, I think) are crossing, and I wait until they are done. Somehow, this goes on a really long time until I just decide to step over them in a single stride.

That stride takes me to the end of the bazaar, and suddenly, I'm on a ship sailing the seas. I'm also being chased by a naval fleet, so naturally I'm a pirate now. One of my pursuers get close, so I run out on the water and stick out my leg to trip a ship. And it works! This somehow turns the tides, so I move my ship around and engage in battle. I board a ship and duel the captain while my crew fights invisibly in the background (I've been playing Sid Meier's Pirates!, so don't judge).

There's a brief sweet and embarrassing scene here that's juxtaposed with the sight of the navy's retreat from their divine ass-kicking. I celebrate, but sadly, the dream fades.

Dream two and three aren't all that memorable, nor as vivid.

In dream two, I'm riding my motorcycle (missed MILD cue alert) through my dream interpretation of Seattle's SODO and Georgetown at night. I believe its snowing/raining, and I want to get home before I slip and crash.

In dream three, I see my grandfather on my mom's side -- who died before I was born and I have no idea what he looks like -- and we talked a little. I don't ever get a clear look at his face, nor do I really know what we chatted about. I think it's about medicine or health because of this gem of a gibberish line: "live eternally so you learn to be aware of the cat's retribution."

Wise words, Dream Grandfather-Ghost. Wisdom +1.
    6. Dec 3 Dream Journal: Hockey + Basketball = This Crap

      by , 12-03-2013 at 05:43 PM
I'm invited to a fancy mansion that has a slightly off-kilter architecture, like from the game Fable. I get a bird's-eye view, and it has a brown roof and is shaped like an elongated turtle.

I'm on part of a mystery or side-quest -- I'm there to do something. I speak with the head of the house guards, who informs me the grounds are in lock down. I cannot leave the premises until the quest is complete. So I run around, talking to various haughty-looking guests to gather clues.

I end up in the garage, where I picked up a basketball that is a little bit deflated. I inflate it with a bike pump, and go outside (so much for the lockdown) where I'm suddenly at my old house in Canada, and I'm going to shoot hoops at my neighbor's driveway baskets.

I see my neighbors B, G, and F, who look like last I remembered nearly 20 years ago -- only, B (who is a couple grades older than me) looks like he's on steroids. F is hanging on the rim. I don't know how he got up there, but now he has a 8-feet drop, and he doesn't want to let go.

Somehow, other people start showing up. One of them is some teenage girl who claims to be Kobe Bryant's biggest fan (this is exceedingly awkward for those who don't know about his... um... history). She insists on retrying my shoelaces to the current style, which is basically wrapping the laces around the entire shoe like you would tie up a roast.

The game gets underway, but it devolves into a city-wide obstacle course, where you score by putting the ball through ANY basket you can find, provided you aren't checked or tackled while searching. It becomes very physical, and Dream Knowledge indicates people are getting injured regularly.

I go up against a knight in full plate armor -- at this point, I'm back in Fable universe, but still playing the "basketball" game -- and I'm trying to figure out a way past his armor with my starting-weapon stick.

      I wake up.
    7. Dec 2 Dream Journal: Parade in GTA

      by , 12-02-2013 at 06:07 PM
I was playing the original GTA, complete with the top-down view and bright pixels. I apparently found a location where a bunch of pedestrians are having a parade. This being the GTA world, of course I stole a car and began driving into crowds to boost my score multiplier. I somehow lost my place, and had to start again somewhere in the map looking for the parade. When I found it again, it's not as vibrant or populated as it was before.

I then hear news commentary of the parade, like it was a television broadcast, only the anchors had no comment on my actions. Instead, it was just a bunch of mundane, inaccurate factoids. The two I remember were "did you know San Francisco only exports 16 apples annually?" and "The biggest school is a school in China that is 19,000 square feet."

Then my alarm wakes me up.
    8. Dream Journal Dec. 1: Zombies, Aliens, and Stupid Plans

      by , 12-01-2013 at 09:17 PM
I start in spectator view. A red (missed MILD cue alert!) car carrying three teenagers gang members pull alongside a cop car, and one of the gang members shoot the cop sitting in back the head.

My brain goes, "Oh, not gruesome enough? Let's see it again close-up!" So that scene replays. At least the cop looked pissed off when she died, instead of surprised or sad. The gang car peels off, and the cops give chase. The cops shoots shotguns at the gang car, and that somehow causes a chain link fence to break. And what would you know, the broken fence frees up zombies.

I get a quick cut to three British hooligans wearing yellow raincoats. The focus is on the fat kid, who is attempting to run past zombies towards a portal. He is getting surrounded, but fortunately, his in-shape friends catch up and disperses the zombies just a little bit. The fat kid still gets surrounded though, but he is pushing on through a small crowd of zombies.

Another quick cut, and it looks like two of the hooligans made it through the portal. One of them is the fat kid, and he lost an arm -- the zombies managed to get a bite in, and his other friend amputated it for him. They walk alongside a cliff side path until they come to some sort of neo-modern flat-house/apartment, where some survivalist are holed up.

The view returns to "my" POV, and I'm part of the survivors alongside my friend K. We remark how amazing it is that the fat kid (we don't call him that to his face) survived, and he needs medical attention immediately. Dream Logic fills in the gap that these kids are part of a group run by M, K's wife (in real-life as well), and K wants to send out a party to investigate. So I'm part of a group to go back through the portal to find out.

But before we set off, we get a ring at the doorbell. We go up to K's room, which has a perfect overhead view of the front door, and there's a skinny blonde woman. She identifies herself as "Amy Adams' friend," and we let her in. I don't know any Amy Adams in real life, so it's a little funny how specific the name is.

(Edit: Okay, so Google reveals Amy Adams is actually a pretty famous actress that I even saw a few movies of. I definitely did not make the connection in my dream.)

Anyways, she joins my team, and suddenly I get a 16-bit side-scroller view of my two companions. There's the blonde woman, who carries a pretty wicked Contra-styled rifle; But like in Contra, she can only take one hit before she'll die. My other companion is another long-haired blond, but I think he's like some sort of futuristic elf; he's some sort of cool, silent sniper-type, and his "rifle" has a feature that turns it into a laser bow. Um, okay then.

We somehow forget about our mission to find M's party. Instead, the King of our survivor group decides to stage a mass exodus towards an underground location (dumb plan 1). So we set out in the middle of the night, forming a single-file line (dumb plan 2), and some of the survivors take this chance to go Trick or Treating. I remark that our group is made up of idiots, so I ask K to guard the rear while I move ahead to guard the middle.

We safely arrive at our location, and the blond elf and I scout ahead inside a building that is jutting out of the ground. The insides of the place looks like the bombed-out ruins of an office designed by M.C. Escher, with stairs circling a giant pit. We don't get too far before Elfy comes across a creepy, bloody, and naked woman, who is clearly infected. After a brief struggle, Elfy shoots her down. I should note that it is "completely" dark in here, but Elfy's weapon releases a neon-green discharge that lingers at the end of his rifle, soooo not the most stealthy thing ever.

Anyways, a couple of us investigate the corpse, in which suddenly, an alien parasite bursts out of her stomach and starts snapping at Elfy (ew!). One of the other guys, who looks like the chunky best friend played by Jonah Hill in a stoner movie, appears. His left arm is apparently the same arm as Hellboy's (um...), and in this world, that hand has the property of disrupting these aliens (...'kay...). So Handy grabs the parasite, which implodes/shrivels in a flash of light.

The King, who is there now, decides to drop a bomb made of light that shares the same property as the Hellboy arm (again, Dream Logic is taking leaps here) into the depths of the ruins. The bomb is called a "Grounswell" here, which I guess is a pretty apt name. Anyways, when the bomb detonates, it causes all the other infected creatures to come rushing up (dumb plan 3). The dream ends here.

    9. Nov 29, 20 Dream Journal: Pu Pu Platter of Dreams

      by , 12-01-2013 at 02:33 AM
These are all coming from memory, so they are just remnants of what I can recall:

      Nov. 29 pt. 1
I'm at the top of a very thin mesa in the desert, and I'm looking for an ancient city/treasure. I also happen to be friends with a small pack of desert wolves (awesome!). I descend via rope through an opening to enter the mesa, while the wolves remain up top as guards. There is a path/tunnel on my landing spot, and I follow it with my torch.

Dream ends when my alarm went off.

      Nov. 29 pt. 2
Not very clear, but I know that I'm in my "general" persona again in one of my dreams. I see a world map, and the faction I'm in is based on an island off the northeast section of the world. I'm tasked with spreading our territory, but the entire coastline is blocked off by a faction that's at least 20 times bigger than us.

In another, I was supposed to be playing a concert. Only I'm in no way, shape, or form nearly good enough to be playing in stadium, so I'm real nervous about dick-fingering it up on the stage.

There were a couple more, but they were muddled at best.

      Nov. 30
I vaguely recall I was in a game show? I say this because I remember a very gaudy, lit background with a backdrop, so that is probably a stage. The "host" is a man in a green pin-striped suit, and he also sports an over-the-top blond pompadour. He has an exaggerated speaking-style, kind of like a hype man, and I'm speaking to him face to face.

In another dream, I was playing with a golden retriever in the city. I was throwing a Frisbee, but I keep throwing wide, and the dog is starting to get pissed off at me for my horrible tosses.

I think I was also a cop in another dream, but that's a guess at best.
