Have you been having a lot? [22:09:11] <Ashraen> i played HL a bit back in the day, but i was more of a quake guy [22:09:30] <Wristblade56> i had several recently [22:09:44] <Ashraen> ive been sitting at about 2 a week or so, but they have all been very productive LDs in terms of working on dream goals, etc [22:09:44] <Wristblade56> my latest one lasted almost a whole day [22:10:30] <Ashraen> made a successful portal for the first time last week, that was cool [22:10:32] <Wristblade56> but i'm lacking in control [22:10:45] <Mancon> Nice! What do you want to talk about first? [22:11:29] <Wristblade56> flying [22:11:29] <Wristblade56> i only did that once with a DC's help [22:12:05] <Wristblade56> i can't seem to override the concept of gravity [22:12:13] <Ashraen> i dont really have anything specific to talk about regarding control, so im cool with addressing flying [22:12:23] <Ashraen> im a good flier, might be able to pitch in with some tips [22:12:40] <Mancon> Ahh okay. 'i never even thought about tryin that!' [22:15:54] <Ashraen> haha [22:15:57] <Wristblade56> another thing i have problems with is summoning [22:16:12] <Ashraen> i had some issues with that a few months ago too [22:16:30] <Ashraen> definitely helped me to look away from the spot i was summoning something tooand then looking back [22:16:32] <Ashraen> that was a big help [22:16:38] <Ashraen> so you dont have to actually see it appear [22:16:49] <Wristblade56> yeah [22:17:01] <Mancon> Okay. I have a detailed flying guide on the forum, have you seen it Wristblade? Flying can be difficult for some people, You said you had difficult with the concept of overiding gravity. One thing you could try is to find a little dial on a wall or something that control gravity. As you adjust that dial gravity increases or decreses. [22:17:37] <Ashraen> that actually sounds like a cool thing to try [22:17:41] <Wristblade56> i may have, but i'm not sure. [22:18:35] <Ashraen> sometimes i do best just reminding myself in the dream 'you CAN do this. its a dream, you CAN do whatever you want' [22:19:22] <Mancon> There are the basic ways where you reach into a bag and just expect the thing to be there or you turn a corner and expect it to be there, but there are many other ways too. [22:19:47] <Mancon> And yeah Ashraen, that always helps [22:20:21] <Ashraen> its easy to get discouraged if it doesnt work right away. for example, i have issues walking thru walls. sometimes i do it flawlessly, but if i dont go thru immediately, it becomes almost impossible [22:22:16] <Mancon> What things have you been trying to summon? [22:22:29] <Wristblade56> i tried to go through mirrors and TV screens before. it bends the harder i push, then straightens out suddenly. I just swim through the wall. [22:24:10] <Mancon> *That [22:24:36] <Ashraen> cool ill try that next time i cant get thru something [22:24:50] <Wristblade56> same [22:25:20] <Ashraen> with weapons, i always find it helps to not just imagine what the gun looks like, but what it feels like in my hands, and what DCs around me will do in reaction to my having it [22:25:26] <Mancon> Well you could ask a person to give you a minigun, and they would hand you one. Another idea is to think of your hand actually becoming the minigun. Like it is growing out of your body. [22:25:44] <Ashraen> thats interesting, never thought of that [22:26:03] <Mancon> And yeah, if you practice imagining the objects in ALL the senses, it defintely helps. [22:26:14] <Mancon> Dont just imagine what it looks like but how it feels and smells too. [22:26:26] <Ashraen> the passive control thing is definitely something that interests me in general too [22:26:35] <Ashraen> i never even thought about that type of control until i came to dreamvies [22:26:37] <Wristblade56> yeah, like metal and smoke [22:27:08] <Ashraen> do you have any tips on using passive control without getting too sucked into the dream and losing lucidity [22:27:12] <Wristblade56> shapeshifting? [22:28:03] <Ashraen> shapshifting was HARD for me. im getting much better at it, but it takes ALOT of practice in my experience [22:28:38] <Ashraen> and ive still only done limited shapeshifting, like changing clothing and hair color [22:29:03] <Ashraen> btw sorry for jumping all around to different topics, i just figured with only us 3 in here, might as well comment on whatever catches my eye lol [22:29:48] <Mancon> Just try to focus on your goal, and don't pay attention to any distractions that come up. For instance if you ask a dream character for an object, don't pay attention to anything else but them giving you the object. [22:31:42] <Mancon> Or you could try to find the thing you want to turn into, touch it and imagine melting into it. You could also just simply imagine switching places with the thing. Imagine what the thing you're turning into will fill like, look like, etc. [22:32:25] <Wristblade56> i made the wings by feeling mutagenic blood flowing through that area. [22:35:35] <Mancon> Portals are a great way to teleport [22:35:45] <Ashraen> first, i visualized the portal forming in teh air, a blue mist that became a circle, then i closed my eyes as i went thru [22:35:57] <Ashraen> immediately, the temperature changed, the sounds aroudn me changed, the smell of the air changed [22:36:11] <Ashraen> so when i opened my eyes i already KNEW i would be somewhere different [22:36:14] <Mancon> That's interesting. I like to literally rip the air open with my hands. You could take a pill that makes you go super fast, or you could imagine wheels on your feet that roll, instead of you running. You could also try to find flash (The superhero) And have him push you wherever. [22:45:20] <Ashraen> usually as i am moving, i just notice the world moving by me and try to imagine it moving faster and faster, and that seems to work well [22:45:49] <ace19> well right now i'm improving recall, i just recently came back to dreamviews [22:46:06] <ace19> I'm thinking of MILD'ing using Naiya's methods. [22:46:24] <ace19> Or trying Puffin's SAT method. [22:46:34] <Mancon> Ahh okay, MILD is a great technique and Naiya explains it really well. The problem is i don't have one dream a night. [22:47:40] <ace19> I have more of 3-4 dreams a week. Except for yesterday. I slept so long and remembered 5 dreams. [22:50:49] <Mancon> But yeah, you can practice awareness and reality checks during the day if you want. [22:51:03] <Ashraen> what are u doing to help ur recall? [22:51:19] <ace19> I followed the tutorial on recall, but i feel like it's random. I guess i'll try to work on SAT while doing recall. [22:51:43] <ace19> Well the usual. Dream journaling. Getting a good night's sleep. Trying to wake up during REM. [22:51:58] <ace19> I can't wake up during the night because of school... [22:51:59] <Mancon> Another thing you can do is focus on a certain object in the direction you want to go, and imagine yourself accelerating towards it for super speed. [23:06:19] <Wristblade56> my main dream goal is to dialate the time in a dream to a week [23:06:47] <Wristblade56> the first LD i remember i was like 4 or 5, having a nightmare [23:07:26] <Wristblade56> i went lucid but i didn't know how to control a dream back then [23:07:31] <Ashraen> yea, mine first happened as a kid in nightmares, where i would become invisible or jump on a roof to get away from someone chasing me, and realize i was dreaming [23:07:33] <Wristblade56> the monsters got me. [23:07:36] <Mancon> Shor and not vivid [23:07:58] <ace19> it's weird why it's all because of nightmares [23:08:05] <Ashraen> yea, they didnt last that long. one time a dog ripped my arm off in a dream and i looked at it and there was no blood.. i was like.. WAIT A TIC [23:08:07] <Ashraen> lol [23:08:16] <ace19> the first time i had dream control was after a nightmare [23:08:26] <ace19> i made appliances play a PS2 >.< [23:08:47] <Ashraen> lol [23:09:16] <ace19> It was so weird. I also made them get into two single file lines. Just cuz they cornered me...
